I had mentioned that I went on a shopping trip last Saturday with some women from church and Glen was working in the field.

Our son, Feyn, has rented the pasture right next to our house (it's built next to our property line) and he decided that he was going to burn the pasture off. Well, last summer there was a new fence put in and a lot of trees were bulldozed and piled up just south of the house.......probably 125 yards or so. While burning off the pasture the pile of trees caught on fire and the wind picked up. I guess we had burning ash and sparks bouncing off the the bricks of the house so my son-in-law, Jason, who is a volunteer fireman, called some fire trucks to come up to the house until it was out of danger. I am so appreciatative of these men.......taking time out of their day to make sure that our home was safe!!

The trees just outside of my bedroom burned......we have a small lane that goes between the house and these trees and it's burned up to that lane.......way too close to the house!!!! Glen was eventually called and he had to cut down a tree that had died and was burning because he was worried it might fall on the house......so scary!!!

Oh my goodness how scary. I am soooo glad none of you got hurt and of course happy your house was untouched.

One time my kitchen caught fire. Somehow I turn the stove on without realizing it and I left for school. I got a call saying my place was on fire. My kids were in school but my furbutts were in there. But they were smart to go hide under the bed and inside my closet :)

Fires are so scary.

You know Diana, I remember when you mentioned they were going to burn the pasture and I wondered how close it was to your house. That is really scary. There have been so many wildfires in Oklahoma and Texas - probably in Kansas too. I don't think I told you all as it happened when we were at the lake, but Gary's grandsons' home burned in a wildfire on March 11 just outside of Oklahoma City. Gary's son and his wife are divorced and the ex-wife and two boys live with their parents/grandparents. It was the parents home that burned. They lost everything, it burned to the ground. Pretty scary!

Fires are so scary! Thank God and the guys for making sure your house was safe. Good thing you weren't home, you probably would have been a nervous wreck...I know I would have been. Remember last fall when the neighbors field was on fire....I was so afraid it would get our house.
Glad to know all is well.

I am so glad your house is okay! Fires are scary. I'm so glad you were all safe!

When I was in high school, a whole resort at the lake burned down. So many cabins, boats, vehicles, everything were lost. The resort was right next to the resort my family's cabin is at. The fires came within a couple of miles from our place. Nobody was allowed anywhere near, but luckily my dad works for the provincial power corporation and went out with his work truck and they let him through. My mom was a nervous wreck until he found out our place was okay... we had just bought a new boat! It was terrible for everyone who lost their places though. Especially for those who live out there full-time :(

Diana, stay safe. I hear there are supposed to be tornadoes in your area today.

Gayle, we had been warned that the weather was to get bad but all we had was some rain. My cousin in Arkansas had larger than golf ball sized hail that damaged the siding on her house and one of her husband's work trucks. We had some a few years ago like that and it's not fun!

That's also too bad that Gary's grandson lost his home......especially to lose everything. I have so many family things....like pictures and stuff......that to lose them I'd be so very upset because they can't be replaced.

Actually, Janet, I think I would have preferred to be home. At least then you know what's going on. Getting a call on the phone makes your mind go crazy!!!!
