My positive for this week is that I emptied out one closet. I figure that before I even find a place, I should get rid of all of the junk I've accumulated. Then, I can begin to pack.

Would you believe I had one closet that went 99% into the garbage? (I'm not a pack rat, but have tons of closets, so when I buy something, I save the box just in case, etc.).

Janet 01-05-2008 06:38 AM

I'm a box saver too Judy...ya just never know if you'll need it...lol

DianaB 01-05-2008 08:54 AM

I save boxes too. At least it was an easy decision to get rid of them. When I clean out closets (or the basement) the decisions are difficult sometimes.

I wanted to tell you all an amazing thing that happened yesterday. Crystal, Bobby and I had breakfast at a little pancake house in the very small historic town of
Jonesborough near us. We have been there a few times but not even enough for the owners to remember us. It is always just so quaint and nice and everyone is so friendly. When I went to pay for the meal-the owner said it is taken care of-have a nice day. I don't know why--I had not mentioned the cancer--I had on my hat but it was a cold day and I could have just had short hair. I don't know if it was the owner or another customer. Just another one of God's blessings and proves there are lots of good people left. :)

judy 01-06-2008 11:48 AM

That's wonderful Debbie. You're probably giving off very positive energy and people are always attracted to that.

judy 01-06-2008 11:55 AM

My positive is that I may do another closet today. I called the realtor and left a message because I haven't heard from her. I also got copies of my credit reports and score and they're fine.

I believe in intention mattering a lot. I am holding back a little on moving. I think it's natural and will pass when it passes. Change is scary and stressful and difficult.
I have to get past those negatives before my intention to find a place is strong enough, at which point, God will provide.

That was so sweet of someone. It reminds me of the movie "Pay it Forward". If you haven't seen it it's worth watching.

That movie was SO sad! I just couldn't stop crying. But you're right. It was a great movie and one I think everyone should see at least once.

Janet 01-07-2008 09:09 AM

How wonderful Debbie. A wonderful time out and then a pleasant surprise. How wonderful for someone to do that.

My positive is I feel I'm doing really well with WW. I've just thought about it a lot today and I am doing good.

DianaB 01-07-2008 10:28 AM

Janet, I'm so proud of you. You set goals and work so hard to accomplish them. Girlfriend, spread some of that enthusiasm my way!!!!

judy 01-07-2008 01:25 PM

Janet, that is super!

AngieDoogles 01-08-2008 08:59 AM

Congrats Janet!!

My positive is that my friends and family made yesterday incredible for me. I felt very loved and had a great day. :)

DianaB 01-14-2008 03:14 PM

My positive for today is that I'm finally done with Christmas!!!! Tomorrow I'm going to start putting away all the decorations. This evening I'm going to take pictures of Jaci and Reuger in front of the tree to make into cards for next year. Yeah!!!! I'm finally done!!!!

judy 01-14-2008 03:44 PM

My positive for today is I've done 2 closets, one cabinet and 96% of the kitchen. I still have to polish some silver and wash a very expensive Rosenthal china set that I'd like to sell. These were my Mom's and I have never used them.

I don't know where to sell the china. Some options are eBay, an eBay store(they do it all for you and take a cut), Replacements.com or try an antique store near me and see if they'll do it on consignment.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Anyway, I feel like I've gotten one room done! I have 4 more rooms, 4 more closets
3 bookcases, a huge wall unit. and then 2 desks and probably some other things.

One thing at a time and it will get done.

Janet, I keep remembering your summer to do list that you worked your way through
and Tink's search for soil. That was you Tink, right?

Janet 01-15-2008 10:29 AM

I need to get busy again...I have another list, but not sure how much I'll get done this year with puppies in the house. I'll have to wait to paint....IF I paint.

judy 01-15-2008 12:39 PM

I'm taking the day off!

Tink 01-15-2008 02:01 PM

It's weird to be able to complete all my housework in a matter of minutes now. LOL
I love it, but keep feeling like I've forgotten something.

I've been trying to decide what to get involved with to keep myself busy, but am leaning toward waiting till spring to take on anything outside the house. When the weather is foul it's such a luxury not to have to go out other than to tend to the dogs and get the mail.

DianaB 01-16-2008 08:12 AM

Ok, TODAY I really am going to take down the Christmas decorations!!!!! LOL!!!!

Janet 01-16-2008 08:34 AM

I am thankful that the x-rays showed Gidget is to have 4 puppies. I'm thinking I see a 5th one, but not sure. We'll see!

judy 01-16-2008 12:08 PM

I need an extra tv and don't want to buy an HDTV until I move. My friend Carol has an extra TV and she's bringing it over tonight! I'm making dinner and we'll have a nice visit.

Tink 01-16-2008 08:10 PM

My positive today is that I went to town and stocked up for myself and the dogs, so we're set to ride out the weather for nearly a week if need be.

We have up to 10" of snow and then several days of temps not reaching a HIGH of zero in the forecast. So I will be bringing Canada and the pup in so they don't become Pupsicles. So I'll have a great excuse to hibernate and cuddle with my furry friends.

judy 01-17-2008 11:42 AM

I'm glad you got supplies. It sounds like you're going to have a nice, cozy week!
It's a great reason for down time.

Janet 01-17-2008 01:39 PM

We are suppose to have subzero temps too. I don't like it cold!!!!

judy 01-17-2008 02:05 PM

Oh my! At least you'll be busy at home with Gidget. I hope you have everything in the house that you need. I'd hate to think that you might have to run out in that kind of cold!

Janet 01-18-2008 09:31 AM

My positive is I have everything here I need for whelping. All except k-y jelly. Hubby is bringing that home tonight....just in case. I pray for an easy whelp and that Gidget is as great with the babies as she was last time. Not much longer!

Tink 01-18-2008 11:19 AM

We ended up with 6-7" of snow, so not as bad as predicted.
Today we're slowly inching down to the colder temps... it's 12 right now but is supposed to be subzero by tonight. I plan to bring the 2 outside dogs in this afternoon and just keep them in till it gets decent out again. It will be crazy with them all in, but better that than them suffering in the cold. It will give me a chance to really interact with the little boy and pamper him a bit too so should be fun in that respect.

Greg was in Kansas City this morning, so I hope he'll be home tonight or tomorrow. I've already warned the kids to stay in and out of the weather... so I hope they listen. They're predicting -35 windchill which is just plain dangerous.

Janet 01-18-2008 05:17 PM

Oh Tink, we're suppose to get cold here too. I'm not looking forward to it with Gidget's due date on Sunday. I hope everything goes smoothly so we don't have to get out in it.

My positive for the day is I just plain feel good!

Janet, that's a wonderful way to feel. I'm GLAD for you! When you're feeling good everything else is just a whole lot easier to handle too.

Ya know how life throws you curve balls and surprises... well I've had a few of those lately. I won't be getting a pup from ND like I thought... long story but it boils down to sometimes when people are down they would just rather stay there. So I'm stepping back and letting them

BUT
I just had a phone conversation with the person I"m getting my new poodle from.
It's not turning out like I expected, but I am going to be getting a CHOCOLATE POODLE from the same place I got Moses. It's a boy and just over 6 months old, and I can pick him up whenever I have the chance... so will let the weather warm up a bit before I go there as it's expected to be sub zero there too for the next few days. So I will have a new male to use on Moses dds and a lovely rich color besides!

DianaB 01-18-2008 08:31 PM

Tink and Janet, I think that you just need to stay in by a warm fire!!! BBBBBRRRRR!!!!! -35 wind chill is COLD!!!! I think that you're wise to bring in your dogs to keep them warm. When we get really cold we put Mollee in the garage where it's warmer.

Janet, I'm so glad that you've had a good day!!! I think that I've caught the winter blahs! That's just how I feel.....Blah! I need someone to do something funny on here so I can laugh, but then I need hubby to stay off of the computer so I can see it!!!!!! I'm getting really tired of him being on the computer!!!!

Tink, it might be for the best that your little venture with this other family didn't work out. I'd sure hate to see you put in a lot of time and money and be taken advantage of. I really think that if God wants you in something that He makes an easy path for it. You may be getting an early warning to steer clear of it.

DianaB 01-18-2008 08:36 PM

Ok, in the above post I complained about my hubby being on the computer. It's really been a clashing of wills about getting on!!! He's been on all day long for the last several days. I'm able to finally get on when he gets a phone call and I push him away from it!!! Or when he goes to get something to eat!!! I think that we're going to get me a computer for my birthday!! Yay!!! But we'll see if he really does it!!!

Anyway, on Friday mornings he ALWAYS goes to town and eats breakfast with his buddies and this morning when he came home he had a surprise for me!!! A single red rose in a vase!!!! Isn't that sweet? I think that he's sucking up for taking over the computer!!!!!

Tink 01-18-2008 09:01 PM

Diana, I think you're right. Which is why I decided to just back away.

It is currently -25 windchill, so I'm glad the dogs are in and safe. They're really enjoying all the attention and heat so it should be interesting to see how/if we get to sleep. lol

Greg is home which really helps as Canada adores him, so she is willing to split her time between us instead of pushing up to me full time. She's not piddled in the house at all... actually went when we took her out which was a great surprise. The pup on the other hand is being hard on my paper towel supply.

Diana it will be great if you can have your own computer. All three of us here have our own. The boys have laptops and mine is a desk top. I personally like typing on a regular keyboard, so if I EVER got a laptop, I'd have to buy a keyboard to go with it...lol. Picky aren't I?

No, I don't think that you're picky at all. My girls have laptops and I agree with you on the keyboard. I don't like typing or getting around on a laptop. I really hope that my husband goes ahead and gets it. Sometimes he says things but doesn't follow through with them.

Tink, I hope that you're staying all nice and warm! That's pretty cold especially with the wind blowing!!!!!

Tink 01-19-2008 12:04 PM

I am just amazed... have to brag on her a bit. So please bear with me. LOL

Canada let us sleep until 5:30 this morning undisturbed. Then she woke us crying and a bit frantic so we took the dogs outside. She hadn't relieved herself in the house at all and went as soon as she got outside. For a 5 yr old "outside" dog I thought this was pretty fantastic. She obviously appreciates being inside and is trying very hard to not give us any reason to rush to put her back out. LOL

I'm seriously thinking if she continues like this she will have earned her place as a "house dog". I'd love to have her inside other than when she has puppies to care for. I hate the idea of her being lonely outside when all she really wants is to be loved and doted on.

Janet 01-19-2008 12:18 PM

That is the way a couple of our labs were. They were outside dogs, but when it was really cold we'd bring them in and they never 'went' in the house. That's when we decided to not have any more outside dogs. They all want as much attention as possible and I just can't imagine being so lonely every evening and all night long. So I have four Yorkies and a 93 lb Golden Retriever all in the house...LOL

Tink 01-20-2008 08:01 AM

I was supposed to have sold my final pup this morning, to a couple in the upper peninsula of Michigan. They had gotten on the road, got nearly half way here and the heater went out in their vehicle so they had to turn back. It's -22 wind chill here right now, so I can't say I blame them for not wanting to tough out another 6 hrs on the road with 2 small children.

Thank God the pup is safe here with me, they're safe at home and we will hopefully be able to reconnect another day.

Greg's left again for the week, but Joel and Shannon are here, and Katie and Josh called to ask if they could come watch the big playoff game here today. So it looks like I will have plenty of company to help occupy the dogs. lol

judy 01-21-2008 04:53 PM

How was the weekend with all that company? It sounds like fun.

I'm glad your little guy is safely home and warm!

judy 01-21-2008 05:02 PM

Gracie Leigh is fretting!

My positive is that I've decided I've had enough of her not being trained. She's now leashed to a chair next to me - actually, she's sleeping on her pee pad.

Her training went astray. I think it was all the visits to my daughter. She has 4 dogs, 2 not trained yet, mine were confined becaquse4 the pups are large and might have hurt mine and so on.

She should be trained in a couple of weeks. She knows where to go, and she's very bright. She learned "sit" in 2 days. Max is quite territorial about the pee pads, so the Big Boss is taking over! I don't remember him taking out his charge card to pay for those pads!

Tink 01-21-2008 05:03 PM

Well I got GREAT news today so HAVE to share!

I went for my recheck today and my Dr was so happy with my blood pressure etc that she gave me a literal thumbs up and said I won't need to start the zombie med after all. She was vry glad to hear I'd taken action and dh stood beside me. She said I looked greatly improved today and should just keep doing what I've been doing because it obviously agrees with me :D
