Has anyone heard from Sandy? any updates?
|
THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU for the PRAYERS, THOUGHTS, and WISHES.
I drove back HOME this evening. My Mom is a little better from the surgery, but seems to be developing pneumonia, even with the massive drugs she's on. They took her off the respirator/ventilator yesterday, so she's trying to talk to us. My son, his wife and two daughters are staying at a hotel by the hospital, so he sent me home today. My nephew come in last night (works offshore LA), so the two boys told my sister and me that they will take care of Grannie for now, so we can get some rest. They're giving me updates every two hours and I can call the ICU as often as I want to. My hubby's mowing and I'm giving lots of loving to the doggies, washing clothes, and freshening the house. My 22yo niece is here, but she does no housework. I'm very thankful my doggies have been well cared for, but seem a little depressed with us being gone. I had missed/re-scheduled my foot appointment last Friday. HOPEFULLY, I'll work tomorrow, make the doctor's appointment Friday morning to schedule my foot surgery, and then head back to Louisiana. Hubby says I should have the survery now and use my time off to go sit with my Mom. We'll see. I'm tired, but I know I must keep on keeping on! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT! |
So glad she came through the surgery! I will continue to pray for a full and speedy recovery.

Dear Sandy,
Please take care of yourself too. My prayers are with you all. |
I'm glad to hear that all is better. You and your Mom have been in my thoughts and prayers since you posted. Thanks for the update!
|
So glad there is some improvement!! Will continue to keep you in my prayers. Am also glad that she is not too far away. Before when you said LA, I thought you had driven to Los Angeles. Now I realize you meant Louisiana.
Having your foot surgery now sounds like a good plan. It would give you some time to spend quitely with your mom. This could be time you will someday be very glad you had together. Hope all goes well!! |
I'm so glad to read that the surgery went well and she is doing better. I'll continue to keep you and your mother in my prayers, Sandy.
Your husband may have a good idea...I hope you get your foot taken care of and whenever you decide to have the surgery, I hope you're up and about really quick. |

My Mom was able to sit up with us for almost 2 hours on Saturday. She's been through a hard 3 weeks with infections, a touch of pneumonia and dementia. She got to start eating purees on Friday and seems to be finally turning a corner. Doctors say she will probably need to go to a nursing home this time.
|
Sandy,
What wonderful news! Thank goodness she is coming through. A nursing home is a good idea. She'll have 24/7 care, friends, activities and so on. How are you feeling? Hope your foot is fine. Judy |
Oh, Sandy, so sorry you and your mom are going through this. Dimentia can be so hard on everyone involved. Prayers are going your way!!
|
Sandy, I'm glad to hear that physically your Mom is better! That is such a relief but the dementia, I'm sure, is hard. How does your Mom feel about going to the nursing home? I know that some don't have a problem going while others really fight it. I hope that everything goes smoothly so it's not so hard on you and your family.

Sandy I'm so glad to hear your mother is doing better phsyically. What a relief for you. Nursing homes are such a hard decision to make for parents. My MIL didn't want to go, but there was no way she could stay with any of us. I hated it, because I did tell my husband she could live with us. I know for sure if and when the time comes...I will take care of my mom. But the 24/7 care can be really hard on a family. My MIL did very well in the nursing home and it wasn't one of the better ones either.

Dementia could well be a result of the poisoning in her system. In time that too may improve. I'm so glad she's improving... I know of a couple people who have died from similar, so she's a very lucky lady.
