Her kidney Dr. said that they will put the fistula in her arm and she can most likely go home the same day AND that they don't even knock them out ALL the way. I just can't see this. My mother will want to be put out. When he said that, she gave me the most scared awful look. Guess we'll learn more when we visit the surgeon.
I want my brothers to start learning more about this and I've told them. I need to help Ricky research grants so he can go on to school after he graduates and it's very time consuming. I'm so afraid I won't be able to handle it all and there is no way I can MAKE my brothers do anything. I have a feeling they are going to leave it all up to me. |

I know what you mean when it comes to brothers. They will help with the outside stuff but the health issues are something totally different. They think it's the girls responsiblity. Been there. Hope it works out with your mom. She's in my prayers too. Hang in there on the grant stuff. You and Ricky can do it. Have you talked to his school counselor? I know the ones up here sure have helped Dustin and now Jennifer.;) |
Yes we have talked with her, but of course we have to do all the work. Ricky is a procrastinator and I just feel so bogged down right now. Maybe his dad will help...we'll see.

Janet I know when they put my port in and did the biopsy they said I wasn't out all they way but I don't remember anything until it was all over. they said I wasn't asleep by their terms which just means I wasn't out enough to slow breathing and body functions like they had to when I had the actual surgery.

Janet, I am so sorry. All we can do is pray for you, and tell you that we are here for support.

Thanks everyone one.
Debbie, that must be what the Dr. was talking about. Mom should do okay with that I think. |
Janet,
My ex-husband had to have a kidney transplant. He was on dialysis while waiting for the kidney. This goes back almost 15 years, but the first type he was on was abdominal - I guess it's a little bit easier of the system because it's continuous. A tube was placed in his abdomen, after it healed, he used that tube to pour saline into the abdominal cavity - it was changed every 8 hours. He eventually needed to have regular dialysis - but I wonder if it's an option that might work for your mom. |
Prayers for your Mom.... hope everything works out for her Janet.:hands::hands:

Keeping her in my thoughts and Prayers Janet.

Dear Janet,
Prayers are coming for your Mom and for the whole family. She is a tough woman, which is good. I so hope that you won't have to do 100% of the work so that you can spend time on Ricky's college career (and m a y b e a little time for yourself too). Like that will happen! I'll try to call you later. Love ya, Judy |

Yes, we're a lot alike, probably why we always butt heads..ha ha. She went camping this weekend south of town in someone's barn lot. They have the barn all fixed up and they go in and play cards and have their pitch-ins. I hope I'm as active and healthy as she is at 85, but I honestly don't see that happening. She's a tough one for sure.

My Mom and I have different personalities. I know that there are times she sits back and shakes her head at what I do!!! My Mom's quiet and sometimes...............ok, usually I'm not. LOL My Mom is careful about what she says and....................well, I have open mouth/insert food problems!!!! I swear it's a disease that the doctor's just haven't gotten in the book yet!!!!! I'm waiting for the meds to come out anytime!!!!! :sidesplit:

HI Janet,
I'm not sure how I missed this thread about your mom, but I sure hope all goes well. I know it is a big worry. My mom is 85 too, and I can just imagine if she was faced with all of this. Good luck with all of it. |
