The trip was pretty good! I am glad to be home and not flying for a while now lol. I got so uncomfortable on the flights and just wanted to be able to stretch out!
I had some issues with my self esteem because I was SO excited to show off my cute baby bump on the beach in the two new bathing suits I bought, but after a few days I was sick of all the "Are you sure there's only one in there?" or "Wow, you are big!!!" comments :( It really put a damper on things. I love my bump and I hate that people were making me feel ashamed of it. I loved the dress I wore to the wedding, until my mom said "Oh I like that, it makes you look VERY pregnant!" and then my cousin chimed in "Yeah, it looks like you're hiding your gift under the dress!" .... That cousin is a nurse in labour and delivery, and as we were sitting down to eat that night, we were making small talk. She asked if I had any swelling and I said no, I've been lucky so far, but it will probably come later. She said "Yeah, and you are already looking really big! I mean, you look at LEAST 7 or 8 months pregnant already!!!" And I was so shocked all I could say was "What?? Really???" She should know, she sees pregnant ladies every day! Her hand flew to her mouth and she said "Oh, you didn't already know that??? I'm sorry!" and it made me cry :( I played it off as my contacts bothering me and I hope my family believed it (Scott did), but I was fighting tears through the whole meal when I just wanted to be there to be happy for my brother on his wedding day. It really hurt me though. Who says something like that? For the record, I don't think I am that large at all. The wedding went really well and my sister in law was actually very nice to Scott and I, and I am really happy for them. It poured that day and they had to move the wedding from the beach to a little hut behind the beach, but it was still beautiful. Scott and I did an excursion to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. It was a 14 hour long day and my body paid for it for about two days afterwards. I was SO sore! Thank goodness we had a jacuzzi tub in our room! On my last day there, I got a bad sunburn on the beach (it looks like I'm wearing a white bathing suit under all my clothes now lol!) and I got stung by a bee or something on my thigh. I was ready to come home! |
Lindsey I am happy you are back and Layla did well..
Also: Lindsey a pregnant woman is the most beautiful woman ever... enjoy your pregnancy and please don't let anyone's comments bring you down. If anyone says you are large just smile and say 'yes, I am surrounding my baby with love and protection' for that is the truth!!!! People can be rude and so often they take advantage of someone else's happiness.. stick that baby bump out proudly and feel secure in your pregnancy.. |
I'm surprised that someone that works with pregnant women would make such a comment. No woman carries a baby the same way. Some are carried more out front than others. With my son I was huge! With my daughters I was much smaller but it was all in the way they were carried. In fact a friend had her baby a couple of weeks before I had Amy and she informed me that my due date had to be off because she was much larger than I was. It ended up that Amy came 5 days early!
Just enjoy being pregnant.......it's the best feeling in the world to know that you have a precious baby growing inside of you! Everyone has differing thoughts about how thins should be.......just ignore them and take comfort in your good luck of becoming a parent! What an awesome time for you and Scott! You can't do anything about how your body changes.........just enjoy this time! |
Thanks guys :) It means a lot for people to say nice things to me right now! I actually think my bump is really cute so it's hard to hear from other people that it's not!!! Whatever, I love our little baby. We know the sex now and we're calling it by name in private, which makes it a little harder to keep it under wraps around everyone else, but it helps me feel so bonded! I love our little one so much already.

Lindsey..... its lovely to hear that the wedding went off ok, no atmosphere etc.
I would just try to ignore what that woman said to you, as others have said, everyone is different, just enjoy your pregnancy, its so exciting and will go so quick now. I am really happy Layla did good, i too was worried about her, she is a little star, i bet she is glad her mummy and daddy are back home though:) |
What the heck do people want...for you to have a scrawny, unhealthy baby?? You look beautiful, and don't you let anybody make you feel otherwise! Soooo...you know the sex, huh? Will you at least tell us the boy and girl names that you picked out?:p
|
Hahaha, I don't know if I can say them!!!! I'll give you just a little hint... we are using two middle names (we decided on that for both a girl or a boy), and the first middle name in both options is Taylor, my maiden name. I think it will be really special for my family to find that out when the baby is born :) We decided to use Taylor for the first middle name, so it doesn't sound like a hyphenated last name for those who know us well (Taylor-Epp). The name will be ____ Taylor _____ Epp :) But that's all you're getting from me! :p
|
My granddaughter's name is Abigail TAYLOR _________. So, my vote is for GIRL!
|
My vote is BOY, as i can see you both with a little boy?????
|
That's great! Now I'm more curious than ever!!!!!!!!!
|
Me too!
|
I'm no good at guessing.
