My positive for today is that my house is back all nice and clean.

Tink 11-27-2007 03:45 PM

My positive for today is that Katie was home for a while and actually helped clean the kitchen without being asked. I'd done up the dishes, but she took out the garbage, straightened and swept and washed the floor.
So that was greatly appreciated.

Also, a friend had some minor female surgery yesterday and came through it well. She's too far away for me to be able to go lend her a hand, so I was glad to hear her Mom is spending a couple of nights with her to make sure she gets past the worst of it before being alone.

katepoet 11-27-2007 04:32 PM

My new student is a 9th grader from Brasil! I love getting to practice my Portuguese.

DianaB 11-27-2007 04:36 PM

I found a few pieces of fudge that my daughter left for me after Thanksgiving in the refrigerator. I thought that she took it all home with her so I was surprised!!! Yummmmmm!!!!!!

Forgivenmom5 11-27-2007 06:41 PM

Hope these good days continue, Debbie!

judy 11-29-2007 08:23 AM

That's a great positive Debbie! I hope it continues.

Tink 11-29-2007 01:08 PM

My positive today is that Katie's at her ultra sound to determine when her little one is due. So we should soon know!

My pups are holding up well in this cold weather. They're eating LOTS, I take them warm water 3 times a day, and they seem to have adjusted just fine. We did put in extra bedding for them to snuggle down into, Canada is in with them, and because I'm currently boarding 2 of the pups I've already sold, there are 6 fat pups out there to puppy pile warmth together.

katepoet 11-29-2007 02:20 PM

Can't wait to here the news on Katie's little one!
Glad the pups are adjusting well to the weather, too, Tink.

Janet 11-29-2007 03:02 PM

Another way to help keep them warm, someone mentioned on YT about using rice bags. Just put them in the micro wave and they are suppose to stay warm for hours.

Tink 11-29-2007 07:05 PM

Thanks Janet. It's always good to have a few tricks up ones sleeve to try should the need arise.
Katie was told she's only 4.5 weeks pregnant! Just barely far enough along to have been able to tell when she tested.

judy 11-30-2007 06:54 AM

Oh, a tiny embryo. When does she get her first sonogram? How does she feel?
I hope no morning sickness or anything like that.

We're all going to be Grandmas!!!

How about posting one of your pix of the puppies? Where does Moses sleep? He's too cute.

katepoet 11-30-2007 11:42 AM

How miraculous, Tink! Great news!

Tink 11-30-2007 12:23 PM

It was with a vaginal ultrasound that they decided how far along she is.
She had it done yesterday.

rivermom 11-30-2007 01:55 PM

Exciting day for both you and your daughter Tink! Hope she's feeling well.

My positive today is I've spent all day in front of the fireplace making cards. It's been relaxing to say the least.

AngieDoogles 11-30-2007 06:37 PM

How exciting Tink!

My positive today is that there are less than 2 weeks till the semester's over.

And I have amazing friends.

And the furbabies are doing well.

And Brendon's dad is improving.

And I got to spend time with Mom last night. :)

Okay, so I had more than one today. :D

Tink 11-30-2007 10:01 PM

From 6 am tomorrow till 6 am Sunday we're under a winter storm watch. We're supposed to get 6 inches of snow, then sleet and rain turning into about 1.5 inches of ice. So tonight dh and I went to town and stocked up for the weekend so even if we're iced in we'll be comfy and well stocked on all the essentials. So my freezer and pantry are overflowing, dh is home safe, and we're planning to stay PUT. It's not so bad getting stuck home if you're prepared!

I ordered myself a swim suit because on Sunday we're supposed to go to my oldest granddaughters 8th birthday party at the pool area of a hotel just over an hr away. It actually arrived today! So I got it on time... now if the weather will just permit me to get there!

DianaB 12-01-2007 10:07 AM

Sheryl, I think that you should take some pictures of your cards and show us what you've done. I do a little card making and would like to see them.

Angie, What a wonderful list of positives you had for today!!! I'm glad that you're semester is about over. I have missed you but knew that your absence was probably school related. I'm always glad to hear that your Mom is doing well and your father-in-law too!!

Tink, I'm so glad that Greg is home with you with a storm headed your way. It sounds like your all "snug as a bug in a rug". I hope that the storms not as bad as it sounds, but at least you're prepared. I know that for me when it's bad out I like to have ALL of my family here so I know that everyone's all safe and sound. We play games and have a good time.

My positive is that I went shopping yesterday with my daughter, Amy, and we had a blast!! We laughed and had a good time!

DianaB 12-01-2007 10:12 AM

Tink, I just looked at the weather map and, my goodness, you DO have bad weather headed your way!!!! I'm glad that you're prepared!! Stay in and take care!!!

You're such a sweetie Diana! :) It's a great idea to have all of your family over when there's bad weather. I bet it really makes it a lot less stressful since you don't have to worry about whether they are safe or not. Glad you had fun with your daughter!

My positives: Brendon's dad is being moved from ICU to a regular room today! That feels like a good sign to me.

Mom is out shopping today which means she's feeling good. Oh, and I got her hooked on eBay! :D

I'm about halfway done with my "to do list" for things that are due this coming week. I'm going to make a thread right now to ask you ladies for some help. :)

Janet 12-01-2007 11:39 AM

My positive for today is I finally got the tree up and put out a few decorations. I didn't put out all of them, just too much to sit around and dust till Christmas.

We're suppose to get a little rain/sleet, but tomorrow it's suppose to get up to 50 degrees. You stay in and safe Tink. Maybe if you're lucky the kids will get stuck in town and you and hubby can have a nice quite...c o z y weekend together.

Sheryl, I would love to see your cards. I posted the Christmas decorations I made, so please post pics of your cards.

Diana...I bet being stuck with you is the best fun. I have a feeling I would be laughing so hard my insides would hurt...LOL

Ahhhhh Diana - Most of the one's I made the past couple days I already sealed in their envelopes, addressed, and ready to mail. It just slips my mind to take a pic after I've completed one. Id enjoy making you one...If you'd like send me your addy in a pm and I will happily send you a greeting. :p

I finished 3 Christmas cards. 2 B-day cards, 1 "thinking of you" card for a friend going through a divorce, and a couple plain jane one's. My dh has been away all weekend so this quiet time has been used for cards.

Tink - Hopefully that storm wont be too much your way. Keep warm.

Angie - Love all your "positives". :p

LOL = I wish I would have seen this thread prior to sealing those cards in the envelopes. Thanks so much though for your interest. Same goes to you as I mentioned to Diana. I would happily send you a greeting. :p

rivermom 12-01-2007 01:34 PM

Diana & Janet - Alright...I went into the craft box and dug out a few cards that I have. I took pics and am posting them in the "my picture" section, LOL.

Diana - I will make you a new one this week and send it to you. I hope you'll like it. :p

Janet 12-01-2007 01:37 PM

I'm heading to the 'my pictures' section now. Can't wait to see them...are cards hard to make?

Not too hard, mainly just time consuming as I'm so darn slow at it. I think the hardest for me are "man" cards. :D (so i don't make too many of those)

Tink 12-01-2007 03:10 PM

So far we have 5" of snow and more is falling. The prediction is for 3" more before it turns to sleet/freezing rain.

Greg made it home last night, and we have no intention of going anywhere. Joel and Shannon are here, Josh and Katie are here, and Doug arrived just a bit ago. He had a tough time getting 16 miles with a 4 wheel drive pick up.

I suggested that since we had so much help, now would be a good time to decorate for Christmas at which time everyone scattered as much as was possible in a small house with this many people in it. LOL

Josh and Katie made tacos for us, so I didn't have to cook which was nice.

The drive tomorrow for Paiges bday party is still in question... but I don't plan of taking any major risks. If it's terrible out, she will just have to wait a few more days for her gifts.

RIght now we're all safe and plan to keep it that way.

That's sooo much snow Tink, WOW! :snow: What a great idea to gather everyone up and get that Christmas decorating done. Perfect idea!

And....to top it off ya didn't even have to cook. Awesome!

Keep it safe and DON'T forget to run out and make a snow man in your spare time. HahahahHahAAhhaaha :snowman:

Janet 12-01-2007 05:13 PM

You guys stay in where it's nice and warm AND safe. I'd get them busy decorating. Could be really fun with everyone helping.

katepoet 12-01-2007 08:56 PM

I just got home from the party - all the goodies went over with great success! Thank you! I met lots of great folks, made some new friends and made it home in one piece - all in all, a good time! Merry Christmas!

Janet 12-02-2007 05:07 AM

Tink, I just caught the news this morning and it showed the awful mess you guys have up there in Wisconsin. I told my hubby I had a friend there and had told us it was coming. He wanted to know where exactly, but I couldn't remember if you had said. Can you say on an open forum what city you're near?

This morning when I woke up, after the sleet and rain yesterday, it was 50 degrees at 6:30 AM. Can't believe it. Sure wish it could stay this way, but this afternoon rain is moving in and the temps are going to drop again.

Hope it clears that you can go to the birthday party today.

Forgivenmom5 12-02-2007 05:08 AM

My positive is I was well enough to get quite a bit of my shopping and some of my cleaning done yesterday. I plan on finishing the cleaning and put up the tree today.
Maybe I can get some more shopping in too. I have bought some things online. A lot easier for me this year than trying to look for everything.

Glad you are in and safe Tink. Brendon says he can't get in the Christmas mood without snow but I am fine without it. A little on Christmas eve would be nice.
