Finally Getting Dug Out!!!

Our neighbors called a little while ago and told my husband he was more than welcome to come get the tractor with the bucket on it to get us cleared out. Hubby and son had been trying with out lawn mower with a blade on it, but it's just too deep to push it anywhere. Neighbor said just to pick up the snow and put it in his field next to us. We could not thank him enough. He was busy helping his daughter but said, if we didn't want to try it, he would do it for us later this afternoon. Our county is still not allowed out on the roads but if they decide to try school tomorrow, I'll be able to get the bus out.

I'm going to try and post pics later on, but just feeling a little too nervous for some reason to try and deal with sizing.

YEAH!!! We're gonna be able to get out!!!!

Your driveway looks like a ski slope!

I'm glad you're safe at home though. Isn't it nice to have good neighbors willing to help? Most of ours are like that too. Gotta love 'em!

We do have great neighbors. One of the older couples moved to town and now their grandson lives in their old house down the road. They always made sure we were dug out first thing. The grandson is a lazy alchoholic and doesn't help much of anyone. His wife just left him. So our other neighbor let us use his tractor. Wouldn't take any compensation for it either. So we are getting them a restaurant gift certificate. Now I'm waiting to see if we have school or not. Tippecanoe County, the county just west of us has already cancelled school the rest of the week. Time will tell. They have only plowed the north/south roads in our county....still need the east/west roads done. I have a lot of narrow, curvy gravel roads to go down picking up kids, so I hope they get them wide enough.

Wow, Janet, it's soooo pretty. It looks like white sparkly sand. Soo totally cool!!!!! Is that your dog run beside the garage. It looks like it's almost full of snow!!! Wow, and we got excited over 12 inches around here two years ago.

Many years ago we had a lab that did not like being in the house at all. Was a wonderful loving dog, but didn't like being inside. So we connected a fence to the garage and cut a swinging door in it so he could go in and out of the garage whenever he wanted. The only time he would want to stay in the house over night was if the temp was in the teens and twenties. Other than that, he wanted to be out. Funny thing was that even though he was an outside dog, by his choice, he never once pottied in the house. He passed of old age...and we still talk about him quite often.

Now when we take the little ones out to play, we all go in the fenced area. This spring we are putting up a better fence with a larger area so we can take the little ones out and will remove the one there now.

Wow! That's some pretty good snow drifts!! My family would be having a hay day in them!! If you do have school tomorrow please drive carefully.

Janet thanks for sharing the photos, what beautiful snow drifts.. You have very nice neighbors count yourself lucky. In our area we didnt get much snow, but we have mostly ice and the roads are treacheous. Didnt go out today. Everyone stay warm and safe.
