I'm engaged!
 

I know most of you know this already from Facebook but I want to tell you the story here!!!

We were on the Isle of Capri for my birthday, and it is the absolute most perfect place on the planet, I swear. The weather was beautiful, the sun was shining, the flowers were blooming, the water was the most intense blue I've ever seen in real life. We walked through the Gardens of Augustus early in the morning, and we spent about a half hour there, taking pictures and wandering around. Then most of our group went to get some food before we had to meet up again for another little tour. I sat down on a bench because I wasn't feeling well. Scott wandered back up the path to the fence at the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea. Then he walked back to me and told me to come with him. I asked what for, because I really just wanted to sit down or go get some gelato or something. He said we needed a picture, but we already took a lot! Ugh, I went with him anyway. When we got to the fence, he turned to me and said "I couldn't think of a more perfect place to do this" and then he started crying! And then I started crying! And he pulled out the ring and got on one knee and I just kept saying "Oh my gosh!" and I hugged him before he could even put the ring on my finger! At some point he asked if I'd marry him and of course I said yes! But the whole thing is a blur and the whole day was a blur too after that!

The first time he went to the fence before coming back to get me, he handed our camera to one of the couples from our group who were still standing there. I didn't even realize he didn't have it when he came to get me. She took pictures of the whole thing!

I'm getting married!!

Yay!!! Yay!!!! I knew that Scott would make it romatic!!!! Sigh........I'm so very happy for both of you!!!!! Congratulations!!!!

Lindsey, I'm so happy for you both. Scott sounds like a keeper and so romantic. Congratulations again.

Oh Lindsay, yes I knew but I couldn't wait for you to get here to tell us all the details! I'm so happy for you. I know how much you've wanted this, but waiting for it was just perfect, wasn't it. The two of you will remember that moment forever! It makes me smile just reading your post. You two are perfect for each other and I just can't wait to find out all about the wedding plans. Have you talked about a date yet? I just can't wait to hear all about your plans. Hurry up and decide all the details! LOL!!!!!

It will be sometime next year :) I do want to enjoy being engaged for awhile, so I want to wait at least a year... so I can narrow it down to between July and December lol! I'm going to attach a little picture of the ring... well, not the exact ring, but the one I wanted... Scott went in to look at it and said the diamonds were "crappy" and there was no warranty or anything with it... so he had the set custom made, based on that design! He also made sure there the middle diamond was a Canadian diamond... something I wanted but didn't think I'd ever get! For my penny-pincher boyfriend, he's turned out to be a quality-over-price fiance :D

I think we're 80% sure of the venue we want. But we don't know what dates are available next year, if any, and we'll have to base things off that.

This really is the happiest time of my life, but at the same time there's little tugs of sadness... my brother has not congratulated us, or even acknowledged it at all. My mom even told him I was a little upset that he hasn't said anything, but he had nothing to say to her about it.

On top of that, Scott's best friends have also not said anything. He told his best friend immediately, a few days before we announced it on Facebook, and never got a reply. His friend had obviously gotten the message, but he chose not to reply. In fact, none of his guy friends have said anything, not even a simple "like" on facebook! These are the guys he has always wanted in his wedding party, but it seems like they're taking a stand against it :( Last night when we got home, he called one of his other good friends and he congratulated him, so I think he's moved up in position! We're going to a barbeque with them all tomorrow and I guess we'll just see if anyone says anything about it. I guess you find out who really cares at times like this.

Oops forgot the picture... sorry it's really tiny, they don't have this ring on the website anymore and I just got this from a link I sent my friend ages ago!

The engagement ring is in the middle, and the wedding band surrounds it. It is soooo sparkly! The band was at home, so when we got home yesterday I tried them all on together and Scott said I'm going to have to start dressing up more lol!

OH LINDSAY, the ring is GORGEOUS!!! I absolutely love that style, I know exactly how it looks in real life. I think the engagement ring is gorgeous alone, but when you put the wedding bands around it, WOWSER!!!

You are one lucky girl. I'm glad Scott didn't go cheap for the ring, it does make a big difference in the way it looks!

Gayle, I agree, I didn't need or want anything expensive, but I'm glad he thought he could afford something a little better. Now I have lifetime warranty with free cleaning every 6 months (and inspection), and total replacement if it's lost or stolen or if any stones fall out or anything. Without that insurance, he wouldn't have risked taking the ring to Europe!

Everyone who has seen the ring says it's unusual! I think it's perfect. I did want something different. Everyone I know has either a big solitaire, or a 3 diamond ring. I thought this was much more unique and it seems more old fashioned and vintage! It's just perfect :)

We got engaged just a few days before we went to Monte Carlo. Our tour guide said that one of the most prestigious hotels in Monaco is right beside the big casino, and we could try to walk in if we wanted, but we'd most likely be turned away at the door. He said if we do try to go in, make sure we go as singles or couples, because they'd know for sure we're tourists in a group. I took Scott's arm and made sure this ring was in full view, and we walked right in like we belonged there! Haha! Only one other couple made it in, and we walked past them in the hall and we both smiled but pretended not to know each other to keep the secret :D

Now, we have to check out wedding gowns!

That's the one thing I'm putting off lol! I've been looking at everything else online... colors, favors, centerpeices, everything! But I think looking at gowns will make me so overwhelmed lol! I have no idea what I want!

You have the figure to wear a mermaid gown. Do you watch that show, Say Yes to the Dress? I love to watch that show - I don't know why??? LOL! If you don't watch, you should because you can learn alot about what dresses fit which body types.

Yes I love that show! I try to watch it every Friday after work, whenever Scott will let me haha :D

I think a mermaid gown would be beautiful :) I don't want anything too princessy... I have never been a princessy person and I think I'm too old for that look now anyway. I think every wedding I've been to for the past 3 years have had brides with the same basic gown with a dropped waist and gathered skirt and I do want something a little different. But I don't want anything that I'll laugh at in 10 years!

I was so excited to get back here and tell you all! I feel like I've been so out of the loop! I'm trying to catch up reading other posts too!

You will pick the right dress, I just know it!

I hope I won't be a bridezilla! Lol I don't think it will be a big deal if things aren't perfect, in the end I will be married to a wonderful man!

Tonight I hope some of Scott's friends step up and congratulate him. I hope my brother and his girlfriend lighten up when I ask their girls to be my flower girls.

Are his friends single? Probably something involving freedom, threatening actions, and testosterone!!!

I'm sorry that your brother is married to such a witch! I bet he loves you a lot, underneath it all!

Yep, they are all single. Mostly all newly single too. They all broke up with their girlfriends or got broken up with within a couple of months before we left on our trip. Scott said the same thing, that they're all single so they don't know what it's like to be in love and want to settle down, but I told him that doesn't flipping matter... Scott is so happy and it's the biggest thing in his life so far and they should put their own feelings aside and be happy for him. I think that's what true friends would do.

This morning I got a text from my brother saying "Hey you guys should come over one night this week" and he suggested Monday, so I said that's great and we will. His girlfriend is away working (she is interning in a city about an hour and a half from here). I said maybe we'll bring over a pizza or something. It was very weird because he doesn't invite us over ever. I hope that he wants to congratulate us in person!

Congratulations Lindsey!! I am sooo happy for you and Scott and what a romantic
proposal on the beautiful island of Capri... Wow!! I have not been to Italy but that trip is on my do list God willing in a few years. You absolutely have to visit Capri if you go to Italy! It is really the most perfect place in the world! It is just beautiful :) We stayed in Sorrento and took a day trip to Capri. I think it would be pretty expensive to actually stay there, because you basically need to be a millionaire to live there!

Lindsey my family is from Salerno near Naples and it is not far from what I understand. Lucikly I have young cousins there I never met and thanks to FB we are in touch. They keep begging us to take a trip they have many of rooms for us to stay with them. When I do go I will tour as much as possible, my husband's family if from the northern part of Italy. I can't wait to see your photos.

That would be a wonderful trip! I loved everything about Italy! Well, almost. I did love the food, but after having pizza every day I couldn't handle it anymore :rolleyes: But the pasta was delicious and the gelato was amazing! And the weather was just gorgeous! I also loved the lifestyle there! Everyone was laid back! But our tour guide pointed out that some things are under construction for 30 years because they don't really care about deadlines... it will get done when it gets done! Lol

Lindsey, your ring is absolutely beautiful!!!! Scott did a wonderful job of getting just the right ring!!! He is certainly a "keeper"!!! I can't wait to hear of all the wedding plans that will be coming up!!! I'm so happy for both of you!!!! Don't let anyone get you down over their rudeness........this is you and Scott's time so enjoy it.......regardless of others!!!

And, we have to get down to business! There is a wedding gown to be chosen, shoes, the venue....
