Last call for Alcohol!!!
who likes drink alcoholic drinks and what are your favorites? when my hubby comes home from offshore my mil keeps the kids that night and i always try to make a special night of it with a nice dinner and afterwards i make us a couple of rounds of drinks.anyhoo he's coming home tomorrow and i need to get my game schedule on!:D :D :D so any drink recipes would be greatly appreciated! thank's ya'll!!!;)
|
I'm not much of a drinker but I just wanted to say that it really sounds romantic and I hope you two have a really special night. I can't imagine what it's like to have your hubby away from home so much. It must be really hard.
|
thank you NeCee...i have gotten used to it by now...he's been to iraq for over a year and then he went down to n.o. two days before hurricane katrina hit and stayed down there for a year-he still does missions out there when he is not offshore. Then he is gone half of the month in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico . when we were first married and he would have to go to weekend guard drill OMG you would have thought the world was coming to an end!!! But sometimes I like to have all of this me-time-i don't have to shave or wear make-up and i can run around in my robe with crazy bed-head!!! i watch romantic movies and me and my daughters do girly-stuff till daddy gets home- then they morph into little boys-watching nascar and wrestling and boxing with their daddy and being little hooligans!!!
|
WOW what a great evening you're going to have. Sure wish my husband would go away so I could miss him...LOL
Personally I like just a simple beer. Bud Light, Miller Lite. I don't like to just sit and have a beer, but I love it with food, even chocolate. I usually wait and have one when we go out for supper on the weekends. Love those frosted mugs..:p |
That is so sweet. And I bet it makes you guys miss each other more and when do you finally get together, there are fireworks!!;)
|
If you want a variety, I would start off with a nice bottle of champagne and have a toast before dinner. Then with your appetizer or salad have a nice bottle of white wine and with dinner have a nice bottle of red wine and then with desert have a nice after-dinner drink like a White Russian or MudSlide or something. That would be fun!

Okay mixed drinks are my specialty, mine are super strong & taste awesome. My current drink right now is an Absolute Sea Breeze, I also love the Rum Runner Absolute Sea Breeze -Fill almost half the glass with Absolute Citron (or another citrus vodka) -Fill rest of the way with Pinapple -Splash of Cranberry on top Not sure how to make a Rum Runner if anyone knows please post the recipe. -I also make a Killer Fuzzy Navel, Bicardi Lemonade, & Dream Sicle |
Sounds like a really special time! I really like strawberry daquiris. I make them homeade all the time. You just buy the mix at walmart or a liquor store, add tequila and ice. Put it in a blender and blend it up! Very good. But watch out because by the time that you get through a couple of drinks, you start adding more of the tequila :D

Hubby and I are BIG wine fans. I'm just the opposite of you...I can drink wine all night long, but if I have a mixed drink, I'm out before the count! Oh, and dom perignon, who wouldn't like that stuff?! :p :p :p I would NEVER spend that much money on a bottle of champagne, though. I like the cheaper stuff just as well. |

I have a very good recipe for chicken enchiladas that I love! Its very simple and fast. 2lbs of boneless chicken breasts 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 can of green chili enchilada sauce 1 small can of chopped green chilis Cut up chicken in little pcs and cook in skillet until done. Add cr. of chicken soup, green enchilada sauce and chilis. Cook until hot. Fill flour tortillas with chicken mixture and sprinkle lots of cheese on top. You can also poor green enchilada sauce over the enchiladas in the pan. Cook in 350 degree oven until cheese is melted on top! |

Ok, here is the recipe for Chicken Enchiladas:
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 cup chopped onion 2 tbs butter 1 can green chilies 8 oz package of cream cheese Shredded "Mexican" cheese -- 1/2 cheddar, 1/2 monteray jack Salsa 1 cup heavy whipping cream about 10 CORN (NOT FLOUR) tortillas (Flour tortillas will get very soggy and gross) 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. boil chicken until no longer pink 3. chop chicken into very small pieces or shred the chicken into fine pieces (I like to chop it up in the food processor) 4. Saute onions in butter in a small saucepan until golden brown 5. Add green chilies and cream cheese to onions. Stir together on low heat until cream cheese is melted 6. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese mixture and chicken. Do not add all the chicken at once. Slowly mix it in until you have the desired consistency. Some people like more chicken and less cream cheese. I, on the other hand, prefer a more creamy filling with more cream cheese and less chicken. It is to your discretion, however. 7. Fill tortillas with cream cheese/chicken mixture. Before rolling the tortillas up, add about a teaspoon of salsa and some shredded cheese to the top of the chicken. Then roll and place rolled side down in a greesed glass casserole dish. 8. Sprinkle more shredded cheese on top of the tortillas. 9. Drizzle heavy cream on top of all the tortialls. 10. Cover with tin foil. 11. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 12. ENJOY! |
thank you rebecca...he'll be eating good for a week with all these delicious recipes on here....guess i'd better get off of here and go to the grocery store!!!chat with ya'll later:p

Guacamole Recipe to go with "FLAUTAS"
1 Hass LARGE Avocado (if they only have small ones use 2) 1/2 a medium tomato 1/2 White Onion 1 Lemon or Lime Salt Cut your avocado in half and scoop it unto a bowl.. Grab your onion and tomato and chop unto small pieces.. Micx into your already smashed avocado bowl mix together add salt to taste and squeeze a lemon or lime unto it..taste and you might add a bit more salt... (Lemon is used to avoid browning of the avocado and it gives it a nice twist)....good eats! |
If you are doing Mexican. Corona or Pacifico are good. And I can't believe no none mentioned Magaritas. Yummmmmmmmmmm. Anyway, Just about any time alone can be romantic. By the way, you don't have to spend a ton of money for champagne. I love Chandon myself.;)

Well, I'm not much on mixed drinks unless it's a marguerita - Jose is my BEST friend :D Otherwise, I'm drinking either Miller Lite or Bud Select. I make my margueritas the following way:
1 can frozen Lime-ade 1/4 can tequilla (use CLEAR tequilla - gold is for sippin') ice 1 - 2 tablespoons confectioners sugar put in blender and crush away - really easy and simple and makes one blender full, or about 4 drinks depening on glass size you serve it in!! I don't put salt on my glass as I don't like it but I do have salt for hubby and friends that want it. |
