$100,000 For A Name Change ?

I was listening to the listeners talk about this today on the radio....

If you were offered $100,000 in return you had to legally change your full name, would you do it?

Im thinking "hell why not, it's not like my name got me anywhere where it stands". :) It's just a name right? It's in my thinking that it's not really what defines who you are as a person.

Honestly...I've been called "MANY" names and I still respond. LOL :D

Mandy 10-25-2007 01:58 PM

LOL ~ oh i would definatly do it... why not, it's just a name. They can call me anything, as long as it's not "late for dinner"

AngieDoogles 10-25-2007 04:27 PM

Heck yes! $100,000 would mean we'd have to spend very little to buy our first home--if anything! Having my own home would mean more to me than having a certain legal name. Everyone would still know me as Angie or Angela, it would only be driver's license and official stuff that you'd really have to change.

katepoet 10-25-2007 06:45 PM

Truth is - it depends on the name! Would you want to be known as "Coca-Cola" or some other brand name - "Nabisco" "Purina Dog Chow"????

Janet 10-26-2007 03:31 AM

I would do it for sure...no problem. Does someone else get to choose your name or do you get to do it?

Your new name would be changed through the entire courts system. Everything, every document you've had and will be having will be your new name. I am guessing if you want to choose "Nabisco" then by all means. But either way you change your name.

Janet 10-26-2007 04:01 AM

Okay then...where do I pick up the money?????

You can Janet - anything ya want. ;)

Mandy 10-26-2007 04:07 AM

Sounds like a DEAL to me! :D :D

katepoet 10-26-2007 09:21 AM

Lately, people have been selling their skin for commercial tattoos and offering to change their names for commercial purposes alos. Is this a choose your own proposition or take what they give you?

Janet 10-26-2007 10:24 AM

So now that we've decided we want the money...what are we changing our names to?

Mine will be: Frances Darlene (My dad's first name, my middle) don't really want my last or maiden name on-line..not sure why though, but I would probably go back to my maiden name.

AngieDoogles 10-26-2007 12:05 PM

I have no idea Janet. I'd probably have Brendon pick or I'd make a poll here. lol. How pathetic am I? :p

katepoet 10-26-2007 06:03 PM

Friends in college who planned to marry were not sure about changing their names to each others so the groom-to-be sought something different. Star Trek must have been his inspiration because he wanted to be The Starwalkers or something like that! lol (They broke up about a month before the wedding!)

judy 10-26-2007 06:06 PM

You bet I would! $100K is nice.

I've changed my name a few times.

I was born Judith Lois Bloom; called Judy. I married ex#1, became Judy L. Weiner,
got divorced, became Judy L. Bloom-Weiner legally, but Judy Bloom for real. I never took ex#2's name. When we got divorced, I legally changed my name to Judith Lois
Eve Bloom. Everyone knows me as Judy Bloom, and I never bothered changing
it from Judy Weiner on anything like my license, etc.

I think I deserve $100,000 just for remembering all of that. Where do I call for my money? (I share!).

katepoet 10-26-2007 08:34 PM

To feed my family, to secure a roof over our heads, I'd put my husband in for it!

I am published under my name so long term it feels like it might create some career difficulties. On the other hand, I do have pseudonyms... Maybe I could use my existing name as a pseudonym in which case - who cares!

Wow Judy! Impressive that you can remember all that! :) I've only had my name changed once, and I only changed my last name to Bren's last name.

Mandy 10-27-2007 09:34 AM

At least you never got bored with your name, Judy ;) For sure you deserve the $$ for remembering them all :D

DianaB 10-27-2007 02:11 PM

I would change my name too, in a heartbeat!!! I like my name but for that much money I'd definitely change it. I'd come up with something that I really liked........like............uuuuummmmmm.......... .......hmm..........Ok, Ok........I need some time to think on this one! I really like my two youngest daughter's names. One is Dae Lynn and the other is Jaci Kay. Maybe I could come up with a cute name like one of theirs. I definitely don't want my maiden name back. My father worked hard but his relatives were not thought well of in our community so you can keep my maiden name!!!!

Janet 10-27-2007 03:19 PM

I guess it looks like so far Judy is going to get the money. Will you fly us to your place and show us around?

Nope - you'll all have to meet me near your house at the yacht and off we'll go to Tahiti and some whale watching, beach (yes you can Janet!) and whatever else we want!

We can have a great kennel for the dogs, cats, etc. and anyone who casres to bring dh, kids, etc. - welcome aboard!

AngieDoogles 10-29-2007 11:14 AM

Sounds like fun Judy!

Mandy 10-29-2007 12:08 PM

Ive decided on a name while i was doing dishes/cleaning the kitchen hahaha... i'll change to Amanda Lee, only if i can have the husky voice with it :yelrotflmao:

katepoet 10-29-2007 02:31 PM

You crack me up, Mandy! :sidesplit:

rivermom 10-29-2007 04:14 PM

The entire yacht day sounds too fun Judy....And Mandy, why on earth would you want a husky voice? LOL

DianaB 10-29-2007 08:43 PM

Judy, I want to come too!!!! That sounds like a blast!!!!

Sheryl, I think that she wants a husky voice because it's suppose to sound sexy!!! My husband would probably ask me what was wrong with my voice if I tried to sound sexy!!!!

Mandy 10-29-2007 11:04 PM

I'm tired of sounding all squeecky, it's not sexy hahahahahaha ... so i'll have the name, and the voice - just imagine all the sweet nothings i can whisper :D

rivermom 10-30-2007 03:48 AM

Too funny - well Mandy you can practice that "husky voice" when you get bored, LOL. (Just don't startle the girls)

Besides, I've heard your voice and it's anything but squeeky. :)

LMAO i'll practise that husky voice on the toilet where no one can hear me - urghhhh i hate my voice, it makes me nausious (sp) when i listen to myself on a video lol

DianaB 10-30-2007 07:11 AM

My voice must sound very young because when I answer the phone they always think that I'm one of the girls. Even my granddaughters can't tell the difference. At 50 years old I just want to sound like a grownup!!!! What do you say to the question "Is your Mom home?" when you ARE the Mom?

katepoet 10-30-2007 11:07 AM

What people sound like on video always seems a lot different than real life voices to me. I think it has to do with the inexpensive microphones home video cameras use. So don't hold that against yourself! :) I also think they were developed to be sensitve to the tones of male voices and are less accurate or useful for women's higher tones.

Which brings me back to Mandy wanting a husky voice, LMAO!!

Mandy 10-30-2007 11:54 AM

I would love to say "goodmorning" to my husband with a deep husky voice, and watch him jump through the cieling :dreaming: :coolsmiley:

judy 10-31-2007 08:31 AM

Like Kathleen Turner's voice? I used to love getting a chest cold because my voice would sound nice and sexy.

When did I stop caring about those things? Those were fun things to care about.
I guess sometime around the time when I started getting wrinkle filler injections!

You go Mandy! Practice that huskiness.;)

Awwww it's never too late to stop caring about fun silly things. Gosh, Id think Id go insane if I had to be "mature" alllllll the time.

I think Kathleen Turner does have a sexy voice. Wouldn't it be fun to have the ability to change our voice more than we are capable to as needed? Again...LOL one of those silly thoughts.

Judy - Speaking of wrinkle injections, and being totally off topic (again) and assuming you are referring to the face...Have you heard of women getting tatoo eye liner or lip liner? Now THAT Id do in a heartbeat probably. Not saying I don't have wrinkles on my face that need some major injecting cuz I surely do. It's just that scares the weebie jeebies outta me. But hell, I'm all for the tatoo - Go figure. LOL :D (sometimes as I type I amaze myself at just how stupid I can sound hahahahaha!!) Oh well! :p

DianaB 10-31-2007 09:10 AM

Sheryl, I have a cousin that had her eyeliner tatooed on and she said it hurt like the dickens. She wasn't sure that she wanted the other eye done but of course she had to go through with it. I think that it's a neat idea but I'm not into pain!!!!

My gosh I can only imagine how that must hurt so incredibly bad. OUCH! That's torture too that your friend didn't want to continue but she had to finish the other eye. Poor thing, but it's almost funny.

As you, I don't think I could handle the pain. I've had tatoo's before, just not on my face. And oh that eye area (lips too) has such thin sensitive skin.

Mandy 11-01-2007 02:14 AM

Oh i would love permanent eye make up, wouldnt mind having eyeliner done, but im soooooooooo allercig to pain  LMAO!
*sigh* wish i had the guts!

A friend of mine had hers done a long time ago, she says it's so easy. It really does look nice on her.

Sheryl she's the one that had the lasering done for "hair" i told you about :)

judy 11-01-2007 12:28 PM

Oh no Sheryl - I'm not mature at all - I totally forgot to grow up. I just switched my priorities from husky voice to wrinkle filler.

I do have the permanent eyeliner and lipstick. I just posted about it on some other thread - I forgot which one though. I love it! I wake up in the morning and I'm ready to go out. I put on a little moisturizer, blush, lip gloss, maybe mascara - and for really fancy days, I may even go for the eye shadow.

Talk about the pain! You have no idea. The lips were bad, but liveable with a tranquilizer in my system. The eyelids...OMG! And I have a big back tattoo and one on my hip, so, like you Sheryl, I'm not a newbie to tattoo pain.

I definitely would do it again though. I do recommend self-medication beforehand.

The wrinkle fillers don't hurt much at all. Most of the shots are something from South America, and last for a couple of years, but under the eyes is Restylane which lasts from 6 months to 1 year. I find that annoying, since there is other stuff available that lasts longer. Doctors want you to come back so it's not here yet.

I have fun with this stuff. On my planet, why have wrinkles if you can afford (or not afford!) an injection? The thing is, not to go for looking really young. Then, it's not natural looking. You all know that cat woman.

Here are some pix of the eyeliner and lipstick. The lipstick is light do that it looks natural and the eyeliner is thin for the same reason. There's a drop of cruising under my eyes from the restylane.

rivermom 11-03-2007 04:51 AM

Judy - those pictures are amazing. Your eyes and lips look very natural and beautiful. Your lips are so gorgeous, I am envious. I wish I had full lips like you!!

Oh trust me...If i ever did it I would be HEAVILY drugged. No way in hell would I do that sorta tatoo w/out some numbing.

Again - they did a great job, you are very lucky!!
