Meet Miss Maddie!
3 Attachment(s)
She's a 4.5 lb four year old yorkie who is in need of a new home. Her very loving family has had to sell their house and move due to several unfortunate circumstances. Sadly, their new landlord doesn't allow pets. Maddie and her 2 1/2 year old yorkie brother and her 9 year old lab brother have to be rehomed. It is completely breaking their hearts, especially the 14 year old daughter. When I read about their situation, I just knew I had to help. After a quick discussion with Brendon, we decided we just had to have little miss Maddie. We wanted to make sure her family knew she would be in a loving and caring home where she'd be just as spoiled as she's always been.
So...we are driving to New Jersey (10 hours away!) to pick up our little girl next weekend. We are sad for her current family, but looking forward to giving her all of the love and attention she could ever possibly want! I keep telling Marty over and over that he's getting a new big (little) sister, but he just gives me these "yeah, okay" looks. lol. He'll understand soon enough. I just know they'll be best friends in no time! |

Congratulations on your new addition!!! She is adorable and I'm sure that Marty will love her (eventually!!! LOL). You'll have so much fun buying little hair bows and dresses for her!!!! I'm still working on my husband for another one!!! (with no luck!!)

Angie,
How exciting! You just mentioned a little sister for Marty. She's a beauty, and you're doing a wonderful thing, taking her. Little girlie bows and leashes and pretties are so much fun to buy! Marty will love her (like Diana said, "eventually"). Max loves Gracie Leigh, but is still a bit confused as to how to deal with some of the changes. I sneak him extra luvvies when she's not looking. Congratulations! :hearts6: WELCOME MADDIE :hearts6: |

Well, I'm so glad it worked out! Marty and Maddie are so lucky to have you and Brendon as parents. Max and G.L. now sleep kind of snuggled together during the day. It really doesn't take long at all for them to bond. Marty will be so happy to have a friend. |
How sweet!
She's a lucky dog to have found a place in your family. Congrats to you all! |
Thanks ladies! I'm looking forward to spoiling her as much as I possibly can. She's going to be a girly girl! :)
|
By the way, does anyone have advice for having two? Anything I should know or look out for? Anything to make them more comfortable with each other? Marty has never had a problem with another dog staying here. He just wants to play all the time when we are dog-sitting, so I'm not expecting any problems between them socially, but is there anything I might be forgetting or overlooking? How can I make Maddie feel more at home?
|
You probably don't really need to if he gets along with other dogs at your house, but if there is a slight change something could go wrong...I would introduce them at another outside location if possible and then bring them home together. We've done ours this way and have not had a problem.
Oh and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! YEAH!!!! |

Just take it one minute at a time. You have plenty of common sense, so you'll know how to deal with any problems from the heart.
For example, Max pooped on the couch exactly where I sit the first day Gracie Leigh was here. I didn't say a word - . just cleaned it up. But, when I saw him lift that little leg and mark the wall, I not only yelled, I gave his little butt a little smack. First time in his life he ever got hit! I haven't seen him mark again (or poop on the couch either). Also, Gracie Leigh thinks everything belongs to her, so she takes whatever Max has and gets real sassy about it. He used to come to me and whine, but I wouldn't get it back for him. He has to fend for himself, but when I catch her being sassy, I do yell at her. It's really a lot of fun raising two babies. Enjoy it! |

Thanks everyone! Just one more week now... |
Does Maddie need a coat? It's so much fun to buy the coat, leash, harness and collar for a girl.
How about Marty? He wears clothes, doesn't he? This is really wonderful:teeth: |
They are sending Maddie with all of her clothes and everything she has. They will have no need for that stuff since they won't have a dog. SO...as hard as it is, I'm waiting till she comes home and I find out what she has before I go out and buy more stuff. I don't want to go buy a bunch of stuff when she might have very similar things already, you know?
Marty LOVES clothes. It's the funniest thing. When I pick up one of his shirts or something, even if I'm only taking it to the laundry room, he runs to me and starts jumping at my legs. When I bend down he tries to put his head in the clothes! It's so cute!!! I've NEVER met a dog who loves clothes as much as he does. |
You're going to have such fun with her!!!!! I can't wait for you to get her!! I'm so excited for you!!!

I have wanted a girl maltese for a long time but can only have one dog in the apartment I live in. I guess I will have to get my need for buying girly things out when Maddie gets here.

Just a couple more days. Whoo-Hooooo!
|
Angie just called and they have Maddie in the car and are one the way back to the hotel with her. She is a little nervous because they just left her family and she also has stitches from being spayed but she is getting along with them well. They are very happy but are sad for her family. They were all crying when they left. I feel sorry for them. I can't imagine us having to give up our Chipper.
