eBay Boycott
Just Google eBay Boycott and you can find out all about this. Basically, eBay is changing some or their selling fees. They make it less expensive to list an item but charge more commission on it when it sells. They are eliminating negative feedback and are also changing it so that the most popular seller's listings pop up first. All of this goes against the things that make eBay so successful. The low cost open market, where feedback is everything, and the little guys can sell right next to the big guys.
People are calling for a boycott on February 18th through 25. I for one will be participating in the boycott. We have to send a message to eBay. |
I don't buy much from ebay, but do like checking things out. I buy my x-pens on ebay, but keep the sellers information, he's very reliable.
Why would they want to change something that is working so well.....Guess like everything else...they just want more money?? |
That's so sad! I love eBay and people make some nice money there as small dealers. I hope it doesn't become an online store site.
A new site will open up. There were 2 new sites in one of the articles I looked at. http://www.etsy.com/ (for homemade stuff) http://www.ioffer.com/ |
I can't believe that they'd do away with negative feedback! On the otherhand, I'm afraid to leave a negative for fear of receiving one in retaliation when I don't deserve one. I know that e-bay has raised their fees before and people weren't too happy about it so we'll see what happens.
|
Kinda off topic, but I just registered for www.etsy.com. They had some really cool stuff. I really liked some of the purses. Similiar functionality to Vera Bradley at a lower price. I may have to buy one and see how it turns out.

Marilyn,
I checked out the jewelry there and some of it is really nice. I'll have to look at the bags. Did you check out the other site yet? I have to see what that's about. Diana, I never leave negative feedback unless I have absolutely no choice. I email the seller and at this point except for a mug that came broken, have gotten 100% satisfaction. I read on one of the sites I googled that the lack of feedback will be for buyers. We'll have to wait and see. I just hope it doesn't become all stores, and no private vendors. That's where the fun is! I love vintage things and used stuff - that's where the buys are. |

I have also left a couple of neutrals and one really nasty negative. You're right. Sometimes you just have to!
|
I've left a couple of neutrals. BTW, insurance protects the shipper, not the receiver. You have to trust the shipper to make good on the deal if the item is damaged, so I never bother with insurance and just trust they will wrap the item well. We've only had one thing come in damaged. It was a fender for my motorcycle and we just bought a chrome trim piece that fortunately completely covered the damage and improved the look of the bike.

I to and boycotting ebay on the days requested.. This is crazy I do buy and sell on ebay. I never had to leave negative feedback. I am sure there is always a first lol . I also never purchase insurance, when I send something out I wrap it well and always buy tracking, so you can follow it. I hope this boycott works...

Hopefully the boycott will make a difference!!!
I did check out the ioffer.com site. I like the fact that it's not an auction, more like an online garage sale. It seems fairly simple to get around. My only complaint is that it was very slow. I think there must be more traffic than normal perhaps due to the boycott. There were over 3000 sellers online. |

You have a motorcycle? I thought you were a bit more conservative than that. I guess it's your career woman exterior, and not what's really inside, Biker Chick! |

I forgot about posting that. The pic is about 5 years old now, so yeah, I look pretty good. It's okay, Diana. My bike is red with ghost flames now though. We didn't repaint it, just bought new tank and fenders on e-Bay that were actually painted by a lady in, if I'm remembering right, New York.
Most people are shocked to know I ride a Harley, but hey we all need something relatively harmless that allows us to feel daring, kinda living on the wild side. This is definitely off topic, but to get back on subject, did buy the new hardware on EBAY!!!! & hopt the boycott works!!! |

Motorcycle Mama! You look beautiful and that's a nice bike. I love that you do that. Life is too short to deny our "harmless wild side." Good for you:cool: |
There are a group of pictures from when Marilyn and her husband went to a biker's rally too. I have a close friend that she has a Harley too. Her and her husband go riding all the time when it's nice and they travel all over the US. I think that it would be fun but I'd need a nice warm day!!!

That lifestyle face lift looks like something I may seriously consider. It says it talks about an hour with no IV or general anesthesia. Quick recovery. There is a lady I work with sometimes who lives in Houston who was telling me about a procedure where they put a string under your skin to pull the loose skin under your chin up. I wonder if this is the same procedure. She was going to look into it but I haven't seen her in several months. She called recently and we are supposed to get together soon. I'll have to ask her about it. |

I think that's it. Also, one of our members had it a while ago. http://www.4womentalk.com/forums/sho...tyle+face+lift |
Oh I forgot about her before and after pictures. She looks great! Well, I'll wait till the weight is off before I do anything like that.
