For My Mother
Tonight my Mom will be spending the night with me. I have to have her to Lafayette by 7:00 AM for her surgery so it will be easier for both of us to wake up and leave from here. She will have a local, but it usually puts Mom completely out. She is having that fistula thing put in her arm.
They won't know till they get in, if her veins or whatever it is (having a hard time thinking this morning) will be big enough. If not, I'm not sure what they will do. I am feeling very nervous about this. I know that it's not all that dangerous (all surgeries are) but I'm really uneasy. I trust the Drs. so does Mom so that isn't it. I won't tell my Mom how I feel because I know she is nervous enough, so I needed to tell you. Please keep my Mom in your prayers tomorrow, pray that they will be able to insert the fistula with no problems and that she will be okay. I just keep crying so I guess I need to get it out of my system before Mom comes this evening. Thank you my wonderful friends...I love you. |
Janet, I am praying that everything works out for your Mom, know that you both will be in my thoughts.
Hugs to you both. Your friend, Kat |
You're in my prayers too Kat. I know you'll be fine after your surgery, so don't worry. Let us know or have one of the kids let us know how you are. Tell them not to take any of the onriness out...that it works just fine...lol

Your mom is in my thoughts Janet. Stay strong for her!

Janet, you and your Mom are in my prayers.

Janet I will be praying that all goes well for your mom tomorrow.
Friends Lynne |
Janet,
I hope that all goes well tomorrow. I think part of your uneasiness might be the results of the procedure, rather than the procedure. If the fistula is in place, then your mom will (most likely) start dialysis, which means her kidneys have failed and she is permanently on dialysis, she has a permanent chronic and disabling condition. She seems OK right now, but with the fistula, things are set in motion that can't be taken back. Maybe I'm just making things up - but the acknowledgement of a serious chronic illness like kidney failure, is not easy for you or her. I'll be thinking of both of you tomorrow. |
Thank you everyone...thank you to Gayle for your knowledge. I appreciate you all so much, you really have no idea. You're my family.
|
Saying a prayer all goes well.

My prayers are going up for your mom Janet. Please let us know how she's doing.
|
Right now she's in watching her game shows...lol. The boys are at scouts and well, ya know where I am...lol. As soon as I can get to a computer tomorrow, I'll let you all know how things went.
|
I'm waiting for news, Janet. I just wanted to let you know that you and your Mom are in my thoughts and prayers.
|
Hope the procedure went well and your Mom is doing fine!
|
Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart. Everything went wonderful!!!
He had told us before the surgery that the mapping didn't really show a really good vein. After he got in there and hooked the vein and artery together...he said he couldn't have asked for better. Blood flowing beautifully, she has no pain....so far. It took a bit longer than we thought, but the outcome was way better. I take her back next week for him to check it out and then hopefully she won't need dialysis for at least 3 months. That's how long it need to be so it will heal the best. All the prayers worked and I'm so thankful!! |
Janet,
Thats great news. I'll keep your mom in my prayers. So glad it turned out for the best. Tell your mom hello for me. |
Great news! Glad to hear it went so smoothly and was so successful!
|
So glad that things went well!! Thank you for letting us know so quickly. Take care.
|
I'm happy to hear that things went well!

I just finished talking with her and asked why she was sounding a little out of breath...my mom...sometimes I just want to smack that woman...LOL...she was hauling stuff out to her camper...she's going camping this weekend. I just reminded her to take it slow and you know what she said to me???? "yes mother"
I really am grateful that she can do all this and as long as she can...I'm not gonna stop her. |
Your Mom certainly keeps you on your toes, Janet!!! I'm glad that she's feeling well, but shouldn't she be taking it easy for awhile?
|
Sounds like my mom.. a spunky woman who thinks she has to do it all by herself!

Duh...yeah!!! It just doesn't do any good to get on to her. Since no one is there to watch her...she'll do what she wants. Even if someone was there...she'd wait till they weren't looking. She is such a stinker. |
I have a feeling that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!!!!!
|
I have NO idea what you mean....LOL
|
Come to think of it......I don't either!!! :sidesplit:
|
