So sorry you have to endure these nightmares. I've never had a nightmare about an ex...never really had an ex, but did have a recurring nightmare of my husband and I being separated and loaded into the backs of these big old farm looking trucks. Kind of what you see about Hitler. It was so scary. Don't know what started them, but thank God they ended. I would wake up so frightened!! |
I've had an ex that was a nightmare.... does that count?:p
The only time I had nightmares as an adult was right after 9/11. They stopped after a few weeks, though. I would wake up terrified, so I understand how upsetting they can be. Check out this forum.... maybe someone there can help you figure it out. http://www.psychics.co.uk/psychic-fo...0d7d7add25e4c8 |
If your nightmares are unbearable, maybe you should go see a therapist. Your unconscious thoughts are what comes out in your dreams. A therapist could help you get rid of those anxieties and thoughts. It's worth trying anyway. I certainly hope they stop or at least get better. :o
When I was little, I used to always dream that aliens were going to come abduct me. I slept in my parents room for 2 years until they finally kicked me out. I know how frightening bad dreams can be. :( |
I agree with Rebecca, a therapist will be able to help you. It's aweful to have nightmares, and it kind of stays with you throughout the day.
Talking about it lots, will also help. Good luck  |

Don't obsess about it, at night when you lay asleep think of happy thoughts. I hope this works for you. |
Thanks guys! I've thought of therapy for other things that happened throughout the relationship that it would probably help to get off my mind, and I guess that's a start to this. I was just hoping that I could control my dreams better and get over this!! We broke up in april...but really, he finally stopped bothering me mid august...so i guess it's still fresh. I feel stupid having to go to a therapist since I'm studying psych...but in the same sentence I know it's okay to get help. Man this guy is such a nightmare...literally!!!

I've found that most of the time the nightmares go away after a week or so. How long have you had them? A therapist would help alot. Sounds like you still have unresolved issues about this guy and the breakup. I wish you the best in conquering these horrible dreams.

No need to feel stupid, therapists are also only human, the best therapists out there are the ones with personal experience! We all need help at some stage in our lives, and it will only make us stronger!! |

One other thing I forgot to mention is change your night time habits. Don't do anything the same way you do when you are having the nightmares. Not sure why this works but it does...sometimes.
Most of us have some kind of ritual we follow, just mix it up completely and see what happens, but definitely don't think about the nightmares before you go to sleep. Hope this helps some. |

Give it time and please...let me know how it works for you.:) |
How are the nightmares? Did you have any this weekend? Have you given anymore thought to going to a therapist?

I don't know anything about your ex, but your sub conscience may be trying to warn you to be careful. I would take precautions to protect yourself especially if you live alone. Like call someone everyday at the same time (like your mom or best friend) if the call doesn't come that person will know to check on you just in case. This may make you feel safer & the dreams may stop.

Wow. That is fantastic advice!!!!! That is true that the nightmares might go away if you felt safer.   |

I live at home so I always check in with my mom:p , but we are all on our tippy toes around here incase he shows back up at the door. I was thinking about this whole thing and one thing that I think about a lot (mostly maybe cause I have a gun phobia) is that what if he borrowed a gun from his friend (he's a fellon and can't purchase a gun) and came here and shot us all up!! That, I think is my biggest fear. It's kinda un-rational, but so is he. Thanks ladies! you guys rock for listening to me blab! |
