Judy, THANK YOU so much for calling to check on me. I AM OK, sitting at home, just aggrevated. Somebody has hacked my Facebook account and is posting malicious messages on my friends' walls. I suggest you all delete me as a friend on FB, until I get this figured out. This person is associated with something called "sify".

A friend of mine just called to tell they are asking her for money. I'm sorry if this has caused you any problems.

Hey Sandy...Somebody just asked me for money, too! It seems you are stranded in London and need money to get home because you and Harold were mugged.
I knew it wasn't really you. I chatted with "you" on fb.

This is crazy and I can't get through to talk to anybody at Facebook to get my account stopped and I can't log in.

I just blocked you from mine, but there was nothing else I could do. They said the US Embassy was helping you get home, but you needed money to settle your hotel bill. You were mugged...Harold hurt his left arm...but thank goodness they didn't steal your ID or passport. Oh, and Harold promised he'd pay me back just as soon as you got home. When I said I couldn't help, they asked me why. I said..no money! I KNEW it wasn't you!! Good luck getting it straightened out!

As long as it wasn't true Sandy!!! Janet was afraid it was real, and I found your phone number from a while ago.

Did you get my message? I also chatted with the scammer on FB. I sent you a copy of our conversation. Sorry about the language, but he deserved it!!!

I am so sorry this happened to you guys. I'm still shaking. And, it is absolutely OK that you de-friend me on FB. I don't know if I'll try to get back in or not.

My daughter said that this western union thing is a big scam issue right now. She said that the FBI is getting involved and taking it seriously.

Please don't apologize. The fact that you and your family are all right is all that matters Sandy.

Oh, wow, how awful that this happened to you. I just checked my Facebook and looks like we weren't friends, so I missed out on the hacker. When/If you setup a new account, please be sure and invite me to be your friend. So hope you can get this straightened out.

You might call the FBI and report this. Also, you might be able to Google Facebook contact number. I did that to contact eBay and found one that worked. They asked me how I found it and I told them I'd Googled it and they said that no one was supposed to be able to find the number. My identity had been stolen and I had to get into my account and couldn't. Ebay straightened it all out for me and I got to keep my same user name, just change the password.

Hope this all gets straightened out soon!!!

Dang Sandy...and here I thought I had friends traveling ABROAD;) I was prepared to make the sacrifice and fly to London myself just to help you get home:p

I know this must have been scary for you. It feels weird knowing I was having a chat with an actual hacker/criminal. I'd love to know how many people they have fooled.

Hey - since it's quite obvious that these quacks can get whatever information they want - my cell phone number is 281-468-7394.

My friend that wired them $900 is supposed to have her money back today or tomorrow. I scolded her royally for believing them. We emailed each other on Friday, talking about my trip to my son's for the weekend. She knows that I don't travel out of the states. She said she just really thought she was talking to me. Another friend was falling for it, but asked them a question about one of my grand daughters who is the same age as his daughter and they couldn't give him the answer.

Of course, I can't get into FB now because they can't find my email address BECAUSE THE HACKER CHANGED. I want to get back on because I dearly enjoy looking at pictures and hearing from my friends and family.

This is happening to several people - not just me!

I'm just glad you're safe, but I was willing to help you with what I could. I just got suspicious because I hadn't read anywhere where you were going to London. I'm so thankful Judy had your number and checked it out with you and that you were safe and sound.

Darn hackers anyway. You'd think that as big as FB is, they would have a much better security system. Not sure how all that works, but there has got to be something they could do.

I saved your number in my cell phone. There should be a way to get back on FB...but I don't have a clue how. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I read of this happening to other people on FB so I would have been really leary if I would have been aproached about sending money. I hope that you can get a hold of some agency to go after this guy!! I can't believe that some of you chatted with him!! Wow!! I have you on my friend list but I didn't receive anything. I'm so sorry that this happened to you.

I have never heard of such a thing. I am so sorry you had this happen to you.

I've now heard of 5 other people who got hacked, too. I've heard of 2 who sent money. I got an email from the Facebook fraud/abuse division, telling me to change my email (Yahoo) password since that's where they got in. They said they are working with the FBI and that thousands of people were hacked.

I'm glad facebook was responsive to you! I just don't understand hackers - people never cease to amaze me - and not in a good way either!

I'm with you Gayle. I personally think they are a waste of life.

I don't understand that or people who make the viruses that cause so much trouble. It sounds like these hackers were after money.

The bad and scary thing is that they are getting the money!

It's me! I had used another email address to open a second account, but when they got the first one cleared up, I went back there and de-activated the second account.

Looks like my friend won't get her money back, something about Western Union only guaranteeing amounts over $1000. There are some very suspicious things going on with my friend. She changed her cell phone number, closed her FB account, and closed an email address. I'm watching to see where it goes!

That's horrible that she won't get her money back. What's going on with her that is suspicious? Sometimes I'm so dense....lol

She says she and her mother had 4 friends get hacked that day and they had sent money to all of them. NOBODY'S THAT STUPID! I asked her to give me the Western Union receipt so I could pay her back and she can't find it. I asked her to go get a copy from WU and she says they don't keep copies of transactions. I am really concerned that her and/or her mother are the ones who caused this. Why would she change her cell phone number, email address, and is even changing jobs?

You won't believe this but I just remembered that I sent you money too!!!! My memory is getting so bad!! I remember that I sent you $1,000 and, guess what, I lost my receipt from Western Union too. Sorry, cash, check, or Paypal is perfectly acceptable!!!!

Wow, that was terrible.....as some of you know :rolleyes: the website I'm associated with got hacked into a couple weeks ago, and we were shut down for darn near 2 days, the Hacker sent a message to me saying if I did not send him $$$$ He was going to destroy the site.....thank goodness we have a great Web guy, and he was able to install more security for us....it seems the hacker got in through our chatbox.....needless to say, I got rid of the chatbox....

These people are terrible!!!!!!!! If they don't repent they will get even worse someday though.

Your friend definitely sounds like she has some real problems. No one is that gullible!!!! 4 in one day.....Give me a break!!

I am sorry your FB was involved, but I need to know the facts about the, hopefully, ex friend.

I got an email months ago from someone who said he was going to kill me if I didn't send him money. I sent him back something like "You are 362 on my list of unread emails. I will respond as soon as I get to it, unless you get deleted first."

He answered me! I forget what he said, but it was something like Oh, so you want to play? You'll be sorry.
