My New Business

Janet you didn't miss anything I just hadn't had time to write about it :)

I started my own contracting business and I'm still in the process of getting it going. The guys do home remodeling and I'm trying to get it running but unless you have contacts it's pretty hard.

I won't mind if you guys have some pointers to give me. I know it might take some time until I see the big bucks but I do have hope.

That's wonderful. I know it costs, but advertising, sticking flyers everywhere, internet, so many ways to get your name out now days. Good luck with your new business, work hard and you'll succeed.

Thanks guys, I'm trying not to worry about it. I just need to make sure to hang on to my current job until this picks up.

Well, we got our first job yesterday :D I didn't profit alot but it might look good for more jobs down the road.

Tomorrow I will check up on an employer that interview me last Friday. If they hire us then we should atleast be stable for a while.

That's great news! Sounds like you're on your way!

DianaB 10-31-2011 08:28 PM

You asked for some pointers..........When we got ready to build our new house we talked to a lot of people who had worked with different contractors in our area and what we found out was that people were not happy with builders that used a lot of different contractors because there were jobs that fell in the cracks. Jobs that needed to be done but nobody thought that they were their responsibility. Just make sure that you have all of your bases covered.

Since you're just starting out you might ask people what they were happy/unhappy with when the job is finished. That way you'll know where you're doing good and where you need to improve.

Good luck!!!

For future advertising...take before and after shots of the work you do. When you're on site....be sure to have a sign placed highlighting your business name and number.
