Mary Kay Products

A friend and fellow bus driver is selling Mary Kay products now. I've always wanted to see if the more expensive brands were better so now I'll get to check it out myself. So far I've bought some eye shadows for my blue eyes and some waterproof eyebrow pencil. I haven't used it yet, but I've got on order this mineral make-up I've been wanting to try. Very anxious for this to come in so I can use it all together. Probably sounds silly to get excited for this, but I'm so ready to try something new in make-up.

Not silly at all - I love mineral makeup. I've never used Mary Kay, but I hear it is a very good line.

I love makeup, period!! I use Bare Minerals for my face, but I love to try different eye makeup. I know MaryKay has really good skin care products. Let us know how you like them!

Betsi, you aren't going to believe this but I use Bare Minerals too.

Where can you get Bare Minerals? You two are beautiful!

JJJ 11-25-2011 04:35 PM

I have tried bare minerals and even thought I did like the results I didn't care for my break out that came with it. :(

Mary Kay does have some great stuff. It's been years since I tried their line but I so loved their hand lotions. Please post pics of your make over.

I ordered my original Bare Minerals from QVC many many years ago. You can get them at Ulta too and probably other places I don't know about.

I'll just Google and see if there is any place here close. I think I've heard of it on here before from Rebecca...remember her?

I had gotten a Bare Minerals sample kit from somewhere. It was so nice, but I don't wear makeup on my face. I gave it to Jessie, and she loves it.

I love eye makeup though. I have discovered that the dollar store eye shadows are just as good as the exensive ones for me. Mackenzie tsaught me to wet the brush, and then apply the shadow., I do fun combinations, which she also taught me to do. I like yellow shadow, with a teal thick line, and then a navy eyeliner. I also got a purple eyeliner that looks great with blues. I have so many colors! Maybelline mascasra is decent. I used to use Lancome, and I may go back to it. It's not as thick and doesn't crumble late in the day.

Mary Kay has to be good, Janet. They have been around for years!!!

We just got a Sephora and they sell Bare Minerals. I've been wanting to try it! But if it causes breakouts, it probably wouldn't work well for me :( Lots of things tend to make me break out.

As for Mary Kay, I think that's what was used when I had my makeup done for my high school grad. They used an awesome lip color for me, and she was going to order me some more, but I never heard from her again! As for the other products, I know some people really love Mary Kay anything! I hope you love it Janet!

I'm the queen of break outs. I tried that product because they told me it's great since it wont clog pores. I gave it a try and I had a really bad acne breakout that lasted for a couple of yrs. I'm still battling acne but it's under control and I don't look hideous. The mineral is oily :(

gja1000 11-27-2011 12:20 PM

Bare Minerals is supposed to be great for people with sensitive skin, but it doesn't sound like it worked very well for you. :(

Blueyes 11-27-2011 02:59 PM

Gayle, of course you use Bare Minerals, lol!!

They make it for oily skin, now. The best thing to do is buy a starter kit, that way you get a video and the brushes, which are expensive. I have LOTS of family/friends that use Bare Minerals, and they all love it! I don't use their eye makeup because I don't think it's that much better than the less expensive kind.

You can also go to Ulta or Sephora and the makeup artists will make you up and show you how to use everything. My 89 year old mom uses Bare Minerals, as well as my 35 year old daughter and 15 year old granddaughter. It works for almost everyone. I learned to use it by watching Leslie Blodgett on QVC - when QVC has a Bare Mineral show, Leslie is usually always there and she makes up the QVC models and shows you exactly what to do.

So I take it there is a technique to using it? I'll have to check some sites and see what I come up with...maybe there is a demo on youtube.
