Really Good News!!
 

We went to court this morning.......and Karlie is now OURS!! Her Mom had said that she was going to come but it ended up that she didn't. It was very short. We didn't even see the judge.....our lawyer had a talk with someone and came out and told that it was over!! We're so happy!!!

For either Damon or her Mom to get her back means that they will have to prove that they can take care of her and provide her with a good home and that will be difficult for either of them to do so we feel pretty confident that Karlie will be with us for good!!

That is such great news Diana. Karlie is now guaranteed to have a loving, caring family! She's a very lucky little girl!

Wonderful news!!!! I know how much you all love that little girl and how much she loves you all.... this is meant to be!!! So happy for you all!!!!

Yay!!! I know Karlie is a handful but at the end she's going to be a wonderful young lady. She now knows someone fought for her when they didn't have too. It's so good to hear news like this.

Dae Lynn had two attorneys and a count attorney tell her that this was impossible to get done but it happened. Our attorney couldn't believe how easy everything went!!

Karlie's Mom has changed her name on FB and says that she's engaged..........and pregnant!! This will be her third........Karlie has an older brother that lives with his grandparents because he was almost taken away from his mother.

You'll have to excuse me a bit, but does permanent guardianship mean the same as Dae Lynn doesn't have to worry about losing her? that she is her PARENT? Does she or will she have to be adopted by Dae?

Permanent guardianship means that the parents can come back in the future and try to get her back......but they will have to go through the court and be able to prove that they can care for her and provide a stable home. I don't think that her Mother cares to ever do that......and Damon, sadly, will probably be in and out of jail so we don't see that it will ever happen. Also they'll have to have money to come up with a lawyer.

In order to adopt Karlie Dae Lynn would have to have them sign papers for that and I don't think that Damon would do that. And whether Damon has visitation is up to Dae Lynn. She actually has more control over Karlie than she will Dean. She will have to deal with visitation with Dean but with Damon not being able to drive it's likely, and our fingers are crossed, that it's something that Damon won't do much of. Time will tell.

We did find out that Damon will be spending a year in prison because of him having guns, which is a parole violation. The time that he is spending in jail is NOT going towards that time. He'll probably be in jail until May or so whenever all of his other court cases are finished. He doesn't have to go to court over his parole violations because that is decided by a parole board.
