Sleepless in South Texas....
I'm so frustrated. Normally I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow and don't wake up until the alarm goes off. With all the extra things to do for Christmas, I've been staying up later than normal, so I'm a little sleep deprived lately. Yesterday morning was my first opportunity to really sleep in and catch up, so about 3 a.m. yesterday I woke up & was wide awake. Couldn't go back to sleep. My stomach hurt, and I kept worrying about our girls. Finally dosed off and got some rest around 4 am.
Now, tonight, here I am again. We are having heavy rain storms, which I usually sleep through and find out about in the morning, but not tonight. Everytime it rains, I wake up, so here I am on the computer at 4:20 when I would normally be sound asleep. I have to get up at 6:45 to get ready for church, so can't sleep in today. I'm on vacation this week, so hopefully will catch up on some sleep, but this is really a bummer. Hope this won't develop into a pattern. Maybe it's age or something. I don't know, but I really need some sleep!!!!!! |
I go throught bouts of sleeplessness too Marilyn. Mine usually last a week or a little longer where I wake up around 3 or 3:30 and can't go back to sleep. Sometimes I can, but end up feeling worse than if I would have just stayed up. I do know that sleep professionals tell you not to get out of bed, because you are training your mind and body to get up at this time, but when you lay there and all the things in the world are running through your head, it's hard to go back to sleep.
I hope this doesn't last too long for you and hopefully, since your on vacation you'll be able to catch up on some sleep later on. I think the holidays have a lot to do with it right now...not sure what the reasons are throughout the year though. Probably some kind of stress we are not quite aware of.:) |
Just sit back and relax, you tend to let things bother you more than they should, next time stuff piles up on you just sit back and consider if the things you're stressing over will really have that much of an impact on your life.
Don't worry, be happy, relax, enjoy life, and you'll sleep like a baby. |

Doesn't it though?? It's good advice, but a lot harder to do when you have your home, family, work, kids, pets, friends and everything else under the sun to worry you. Sometimes I think it's just we get so caught up in everything and we need to learn to say...is this really that important and if not toss it in the air!!! We don't do that though. For some reason we hang on to it and it surfaces throughout the night. I have heard that if we can find closure on things during the day, we don't worry so much about it in our sleep. |
I'm sleeping much better now that the stress of Christmas is over, and I'm on vacation this week. Just have to go in for 1/2 day Friday. Did not have another 1/2 day to put there.
I think I'm going to take advantage of some of the after Christmas sales and get started organizing some of that stuff that is hidden behind doors. My home has lots of storage, and I'm not sure what all is in there.;) Wanted |

She hates me mentioning it because she thinks I'm trying to make her feel bad, but it's just the fact. We can shop around here when she's off. Her boyfriend arrives today for a 3 day visit. |
