How far should one reach?
If your dream job came available and you had only minimal training and experience, how far is too far for you to reach?
Would you take a chance if you thought you might only have a 10% chance of getting so much as in interview? |
What do you have to lose??
|
I'd say go for it Tink. You'll never know unless you try. And I'm sure they would be SO lucky to have you!!
|
Dignity? Self respect?
Oh Marilyn, I know you're right, and normally I'm willing to just jump into things, but this time I am shy and a bit anxious about even hinting that I might consider myself capable of the job. It involves skill as well as experience, so I guess I'm afraid I'll come across like one of those people on the season opener of American Idol. I'm so worked up over trying out for this job that I dont even want to say what it is... I'll let you know if I get up the nerve to go for it and get it. :yelrotflmao: |
Rah, Rah, Rah!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Go for it Tink!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: You can do it!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Rah, Rah, Rah!!!! |
Thanks Diana, you're a real love.
I love being able to come here to post about my life. I always go away feeling stronger and more secure. You're one special lady. |
Go for it Tink, you can do it! They could only WISH to have you with them!!
|
Tink, I have to tell you I think you can do anything you put your mind to.
I had always wanted to work in an office, work with accounting, work on a computer....etc. Well I applied for this position doing just what I wanted, only....I was just learning the computer, couldn't balance my check book and so I faked it. Yup, I got hired and then learned how to do all I needed to do my job. I ended up as Administrative Assist and then Office Manager. All it takes is the confidence in ourselves and we can do anything we want. You know I'm wishing you the BEST!!!:) |
Tink, last year, I had one of those opportunities. A head hunter called about a position that was a real stretch for me. The company with a position available ended up filling it from within, but it was a very educational experience going through this process & if another opportunity like it presents itself, I will be even better prepared next time.
You should go for it and go in there as prepared as possible and with a very positive mental attitude. If it works out, you would have really accomplished something and advanced yourself. If it does not, you will learn something worthwhile from the process that may benefit you in the future. Go in with that attitude. The result is positive whether you get the job or not. Keep us posted!! |

That's exactly what I meant too!! You can do anything you want to do.
I knew I didn't have any of the experience they were looking for, but I KNEW I COULD DO IT if given the chance... There are not too many things I can't do...quite a few I don't care for, but if I put my mind to it, I can do anything...I AM WOMAN!!!!!.....LOL |
Go for it hon. If you don't you will spend the rest of you life (or atleast awhile) wondering "what if?". Sounds like you won't be crushed if it doesn't happen so they can't kill you for trying :D . Best of luck & let us know how it goes

If this is something that you really want then go after it. Isn't this what part of life is about? Heading out "reaching" to make our dreams a reality?

Tink.. Life is a gamble, take a shot go for it..You may be surprised at the outcome. |
Tink - my vote is to go for it! You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain!!! You don't know if you can do something if you don't at least try.
Let me give you a little background on me - several years back, when hubby and I decided to move back to where we are now, I gave up a job I had as an office manager/assistant to the district manager of an insurance company. I knew in relocating, a management position would be hard to come by - especially here and boy was I right! But I had to start somewhere, get my foot in the door, and I did just that. I started in an entry level position and worked my way up from there back into a supervisory position. For the past 2 1/2 years, I have been doing medical coding for a long term acute care hospital. I was approached over a month ago about going to one of the clinics as their manager - they knew my background, what I can do, etc. After much thought and prayers over it, I accepted the position and will be starting on the 2nd of April. BUT - I would not have been offered this job had I not taken the "leap" and applied for management positions in the past. Someone took a chance on me, gave me the opportunity, and I'm grateful for it. Take the chance - someone out there is waiting for someone like you to give that chance to. Don't sell yourself short - you are way better than that:) Best of luck and keep us posted! |
