How did you know it was time to have a baby?

Dh and I have been married for a little over 4 years, we are starting to get the "When are you going to have a baby?" question -- (A LOT!)

We have been moving around a lot for dh's job durring the summer months. And I am so close to being done with school, that I am feeling that right now isn't the best time for us.

So my questions is... How did you decide it was time to have kids? How long did you wait, or was it a suprise?

Thanks.

I don't have any kids yet, but my mom tells me that my 2 sisters and I were all three surprises! :p She says that she was happy that we were surprises, though, because she says that she would never have been ready to say, "Ok, I'm ready to have children today." You know?

For some really odd and possibly some would say stupid reason, I decided to begin my family when I was 16. That was forever ago it seems. :o It all just continued thereafter.

I guess you will know when the time is right or then again it might just be...SURPRISE, lol. :D

I just felt it was "now or never" i didnt want to be an older mom, so we had our son when i was 26. At 23 i was told that i could possibly never have any kids, due to some issues i had, 3 years later our son was born :)

We "just knew" after we were married about 7 years. Then we tried and tried and nothing. I had endometriosis really bad and went through so much fertiltiy crap and still nothing. We tried invitro and fertility drugs..

I remember we tried to adopt a baby and the bio mother decided to keep it. We were so heartbroken and I went to my mothers and layed my head on her lap and just cried. She said something about God and I looked her in the eye and told her never to mention God to me ever again. I was so angry. The next day I got a call at work from our lawyer and said our son was born (we had talked with another bio mother. also). I was so excited. I went home to our bedroom and apologized to God for what I said to my mother and I promised him to teach my son God's word. I didn't break that promise. We have a lovely church and church family.

I too started my family when I was 16, mine was an oops. Wouldnt change any of it though. I think you just have to listen to your heart if you rationalize it to peices it will never be the right time.

Ok, so here's my story ;)

My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years and 2 months now.. and just about the same time last year.. we started talking about having babies and marriage.. since at the time we both had a steady job

we are both nurses.. and so it was actually it was perfect.. so we were trying for a couple of months.. and well i didn't think it was working.. so i figured maybe its not time yet..

and sure enough i was already pregnant and didnt know it.. :) and now we've been blessed with a beautiful baby girl :)

both of mine were too and if i could go back in time i would do it again with the exception of my oldest daughter it would have been a wham bam thank you sir and iwould have hauled ass....we are going thru a custody battle right now. her sperm donor didn't have thing to do with her for the first four years of her life and i had moved on with my life-got married moved to another town and had another child. my hubby IS her daddy as far as she is concerned he's been taking care of her since she was a year old....but that's another subject.

After 3 years of marriage, dh and I decided together that we'd try to get pregnant. If it didn't work out, we'd stop and wait a while before trying again. Well, it must have been perfect timing because I found out the Monday after Mother's Day 1989 that I was pregnant. TJ was born in January of '90. DH and I had said that once we had a baby, we'd like to wait at least 4 years before trying again for another. Taylor was a surprise for us! I had wanted TJ to be at least 3 years old before we even tried but Taylor was born 30 days after TJ celebrated his 3rd birthday. When the time's right, you'll know it - either by planning it or by being suprised:)

My hubby and I waited about 7 years before deciding not to become parents. We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in June.

You'll know when you're ready.

We started trying when we had been married about 3 years, but had lots of infertility issues. Finally had our first when we were married 11 years after lots of tears. She was very much planned and very expensive. As soon as the doctor said it was okay to try again, I got pregnant. We have two beautiful daughters, 18 months apart.

We are so very blessed and think the doctors in Houston where we went are the best.

Wow! I'm glad it finally worked out for you! I think that having difficulty conceiving (and wanting to) must be one of the hardest things to go through. How old are your girls now?
