I got an 80, yikes! Guess I'm not smarter than a fifth grader, lol.

Gina 04-11-2007 02:57 PM

I got a 75 had to guess a lot lol

Marilyn 04-11-2007 07:24 PM

I made a 90. :( I still think 1 should be a prime number. And who in their right mind cares what a 7 sided figure is called any way!!!!

Passionfruition 04-11-2007 07:38 PM

Wow, it looks like I need to go back to school like Billy Madison b/c I FLUNKED.

65%

I guess I'm just tired, if that's an excuse. I'll go to bed and wake up smarter. lol.

DianaB 04-11-2007 09:36 PM

I got 75%. Marilyn, you did pretty good. I probably would have done better if I had been in school sometime in the last 32 years!!!!!

Janet 04-12-2007 08:48 AM

You guys did great!! I only got a 64%. I must really be dumb. I'm just not telling my son my score...LOL

Marilyn you did great...you are just as smart as a fifth grader...LOL

Chandra Amaya 04-13-2007 05:58 AM

ugh 75. :(

I'm with you Mum, 90 and I got the same ones wrong, isn't it a prime number if it can only be divided by itself? Then 1 should be a prime, and who cares what a 7 sided figure is called?

I highly doubt 5th graders could answer these too.

I thought that the definition of a prime number was that it had to be divisible by itself and 1, so since one is divisible by itselt (1) and 1, it was prime. However, the correct definition is "In mathematics, a prime number (or a prime) is a natural number that has exactly two (distinct) natural number divisors, which are 1and the prime number itself." (from Wickipedia)

There have to be TWO DISTINCT divisors. 1 has only itself.

And I still don't care what a 7 sided figure is called. 6 sided and 8 sided are much more common and practical. Six sided is actually the most efficient use of material to contain space. This is the reason that a honey comb utilizes 6 sided chambers.

Thanks for checking that out, Marilyn. I missed both of those too! I don't think that I had ever heard what a 7-sided figure was called and I was doing good to even remember that a prime number had to do with dividing into itself! It's been a long time since I was in school!

It's a good thing I retired from teaching - I got a 55%!!! (The day I retired - November 2nd 2006, I turned my brain off).

Well that was fun...90%. I thought 1 was a prime number too!!! And, I forget what the other one was that I missed. Apparently I didn't learn anything from this:D

katcarasella 04-18-2008 01:49 PM
