What do you get grandparents for thier anniversary?

They have been married for 27 yrs this year I think. They are both in poor health. He is pretty much in bed all the time. He has mini stroke several times a day & has trouble even standing now. She has heart problems & never learned to drive so any gift certificates are out. They argue all the time & don't even appear to be in love. BUT if we don't do something for them we will get the guilt trip for the next 10 yrs. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe a little "get together" with the family? Each could bring a dish with different foods, if they have a garden, you could put up a little party tent, and do a BBQ or surprise them with a high tea.
Its difficult because they both seem in poor health, so its no good taking them away from home for hours i think?

That sound a good idea Mandy, my mum and dad are both in poor health so I know they would like a little get together with family.

But if it is that you feel they will want to open a pressy how about dvd's some old type movies from when they first got together and were crazy about each other I am sure there must have been a time as you are here;)

I like Mandy's idea and maybe one of those First Alert buttons in case they would ever need it.

For my birthday my daughters made a slide show with our family pictures and put it to music on a cd. I loved it! I bet they would really enjoy something like that. Or how about one of those picture frames that have a lot of places for pictures and have it already filled with pictures when you give it to them.

Mom had them a calendar made for Christmas that had pics of all of us one of each month. She also had a small pic of each person for their birthdays & such. It was really nice & she spent alot of time. These people are very rude & didn't even act like they liked it. Instead of hanging it up she put it in a drawer. :(

I took portraits of our entire extended family at Christmas, so now I am getting the best one framed for them for their anniversary.

Traci, I have no idea what to tell you. They are SO hard to buy for...

If that's how a thoughtful gift was treated then I would just send flowers or something and not put so much time and energy in worrying about it.

I would agree with Mandy, but as I read further on Diana is right maybe a nice bouqet of flowers, and coffee and cake if they are really unappreciative. How old are they? If they are old , they do have health issues so that may make them not be in good spirits. Unless its a combination of their personalities and aliments.

We can do that if you like Traci--I don't know how Pappaw's nerves will take us all being in that small house at one time-but he manages at Christmas-He seems to be getting worse but talk to Mammaw and if you think it will be OK we will figure everything out

Alot of it is their personalities. They have gotten worse eince they have gotten sicker but they have always been hateful & rude. They are 69 & 71 I think. Mom would know better than I on that one.
