Do I dare?

Our sofa is a nightmare. I got it by default. It's nothing I'd have ever in a million years have chosen for myself. The ONLY good things I can say for it are it's very comfortable, and it was free.

I want to take it out and get rid of it today. Hubby of course isn't around to ask. He never sits on it, he has his own chair... and he has no big attachment to it either, but seems to feel we should have a sofa since that's the "norm".

My thinking is, that as long as we have this ugly thing, he's not going to be in any rush to get a better one. He's rarely home and really doesn't care much about these type of things, but I kinda wonder if this is going too far without asking him first? LOL

So would you do it?
Do I dare?

Well, my dear Tink, I think you know me enough by now to know that I would tell you................YES....GO FOR IT!!!!!

Questions to ask...does he sit on it, does he clean it, does he move it, if the answers are no....then you can do whatever you want...and tell him "I said so"...LOL

Sure wish you lived closer, I have a couch and loveseat...almost new condition I'm going to sell this summer.

Yes go for it chances are he will not even miss it:D

I don't know what to tell you, Tink. My husband takes care of our finances and if I were to throw out something like that I might be waiting a while before I got another one. He wouldn't be mad or any thing like that but we might not have the money available at that time to replace it.

I think that only you know how your husband would react and you should base your decision on that. Personally, I would talk to my husband about it first.

AngieDoogles 04-19-2007 01:55 PM

Tink, I think you know your relationship and your husband best and you know how he will respond. Good luck!

Thanks all

Greg called, so I did ask him and he said "Fine, get rid of it!" So now I'm just trying to round up enough help to get it done. It's HUGE and very heavy.

We would all help Tink, but we are a little too far away!!!!!

Good for you, you have to do what makes you happy, glad your hubby agrees!

AngieDoogles 04-20-2007 04:43 AM

I'm glad everything worked out Tink. Sometimes we worry over nothing. lol.

DianaB 04-20-2007 05:57 AM

I'm glad that it worked out too. Now you don't have to worry about how he'll react when he finds it gone.

I live closer, what does it look like?
We're looking for furniture for our basement

Tink 04-20-2007 08:33 PM

I hope to look for a sofa tomorrow, but won't be in any huge rush to buy one unless i find a really good deal on it. Ashley Furniture is having a tent sale tomorrow, so it's possible.

We picked up materials today to start installing our wood floor in the family room, and to re-insulate the underside of the house. It would be simpler not to have a sofa to move whien we're doing the floor. ;)

DianaB 04-21-2007 08:30 AM

I think that looking for furniture is fun! Ashley furniture has some really cute styles. I got a new couch set last year and I really looked at Ashley, but they only come one color. You can't change the fabric so it took me a while to find what I wanted. I just about drove my husband crazy!!! I really like what I got except the fabric is a little more golden than what i really wanted, but it looks really nice. I'm just picky!!

I think that I know what you're going to be doing this weekend. Hope your floor goes in really easy and you enjoy doing it. Good luck!!!

I'm in shock! I looked at furniture today, and found some really good deals, so when I got home I told Greg about the bargains I found and he agreed to go look at them with me. He's usually not real eager to go anywhere when he's home 'cause he's here so little, so I was surprised. :D

Anyway, we found a chocolate leather reclining sofa that had had it's one wooden frame piece damaged by a fork lift, that had been repaired so it's good as new. It was regularly $960, clearanced for $335! Then we found a reclining loveseat that was normally $620 clearanced at $235!
So with tax included, I paid $3 less for the pair than the loveseat alone retails at.
