Yeeeeeeeehawwwwwwwww!!!

I went to a garage sale today and ended up filling my trunk with perennials for only $32!

I got 8 ever-bearing raspberries, 12 hostas, 6 lilly of the valley, and 3 butterfly bushes. I lucked out big time! I ended up paying just over a dollar a piece for plants that normally sell at about $6 each.

Now I have to get my butt outside and get them planted! I just had to share my excitement!

Way to go Tink. I hope I can find some bargain....any kind of bargain...LOL

That's awesome Tink! I'm sure they'll be beautiful! :)

We got all the hastas, lilly of the valley, and the butterfly bushes planted tonight.
Just the raspberries left to get in the ground.

I finally took the covers off my seedlings so they have a few days to toughen up before I plant them in the ground too. The sunflowers and cosmos were so tall they'd been straining at the covers. I've got a lot of work ahead of me, but once it's all planted I know I'll be very glad I did it.

I'm sure all your work will be worth it Tink. It will look beautiful. I would love to work on my yard but I can't get the energy to get my house done inside.

Wow, Tink. You got some really good buys!!! They're going to look really nice in a year or two!!! I've thought about getting a butterfly bush. They are so pretty!

Lucky for me, Greg is just as nuts as I am. ;)
On the way home from our granddaughters birthday party today, we had to drive past the place I got all the plants from yesterday. I pointed it out, so Greg swung in and we bought 30 deep purple and white iris rhizomes. Another beautiful plant that will come back and multiply year after year!

Our goal is to start beds of perennials that will grow on their own now so that when we get older and don't feel up to planting a lot of things each year, we'll still be able to enjoy a lawn filled with flowers. Because the lady selling the plants was so taken with Gregs willingness to help me put flowers in the yard, I got a nice bargain paying about 50 cents each. She said he reminded her of her deceased husband who she said was a "Real Gem" too. LOL

I think I'd better put a stop to my plant buying for this year though, 'cause once I get all my seedlings planted, there will be 500- 600 flowering plants growing.

Wow! That's really cool! You'll have to post pics after you get everything planted:rolleyes

Janet 05-19-2007 03:13 PM

Yes, Jlynn is right!! The pictures you posted before were beautiful. Maybe put Moses in a couple of them.....???? I bet they are going to be beautiful.
