Doing Bridesmaid's Dresses on Saturday!!

Saturday we'll be at David's Bridal in Austin picking out bridesmaid's dresses for Melissa's wedding. She hasn't posted on here for a while. She's been busy with school and work and Garrett. There is so much to do before the big day. Saturday should be fun though. All us girls together with them trying on dresses. These are really special times.

Melissa exchanged her wedding dress to change the color from ivory to white to match the shirts the guys will be wearing. The new dress wasn't supposed to be here until April, but they called today and it came in so she will get to try it on Saturday, too. I can't wait to see her and take lots of pictures of her and her bridesmaids and all the fun.

I'm taking everyone out to dinner afterward. Can't wait!!!

Marilyn now is the time to take lots and lots of pictures. Even of the dresses they don't pick out. Just all the memories of the fun you'll have. I wish I would have taken more pictures than I dd.

I've been wondering how the wedding plans were going. A day with all of the girls sounds like a fun day! I would have never thought to take pictures of trying on dresses. What a great idea!!! What colors is Melissa going with?

Cherish these moments Marilyn! It's so much fun to plan a wedding.

I can't wait to see the pictures. Have you chosen your dress yet?

She's going with clover green for the bridesmaids. Her wedding dress is white lace with scattered white sequins and beads and a clover beaded sash. I haven't found a dress yet. I'm thinking a lighter green, like a celery. Her flowers are all tropical colors, orange and yellow lillies, green hydrangea, bird of paradise, little white orchids those type colors with lots of greenery. We are putting palm trees and flowering plants like boganvelia at the front of the church. Mother of the groom will probably wear a salmon color.

Lots to do before June!!! I may have to slow down on here a little bit!!

It sounds beautiful. Like a garden! If you do have to back off a bit, please keep posting pictures!

Marilyn, planning a wedding is so exciting. Being the mother of the bride I can imagine is so much more involvement. Sounds like you will have so much fun with the girls and then to treat them out to dinner, wow your a doll. Her color scheme sounds very pretty. I can't wait to you share the pictures. We want to see ..

Weddings take a lot of time and effort so we completely understand if you need to take a break from 4WT. Just pop in once in a while, say hi, and let us know what's going on!!!!

We got a lot accomplished yesterday!!! Got the bridesmailds dresses all picked out and ordered and were looking at shoes when they come and told us that one of the pieces was not available in the clover color that we needed, so had to rethink one of the outfits. That was not pleasant.

We bought a nice bride's memory book at Hallmark, with the classic white pen on a little stand to match.

We had exchanged Melissa's ivory dress for white and it came in this week, so she got to try it on. We actually like the dress better in white. It just looks more "bridal" somehow, and more springy/summery. So that was a wonderful relief.

They've decided they want chocolate fountains (I think one milk chocolate and one white chocolate) at the reception, but the groom knows where to rent them locally and they come and set them up and run them for you. So hopefully they are available for the right day in June.

It was a busy day!!! I was exhausted when we got home last night. I had taken one of the bridesmaids with me.

One of the bridesmaids is the groom's sister, so she and the mother of the groom were there. After Melissa's dress was hidden in the bag, the groom joined us, so it made for a little more stress. They are wonderful people, I really, really like them a lot!!! Just wish we could have become friends before having to go through all this stressful stuff together. It was the sisters outfit that had to be changed.

Glad we can mark a few more things off the list!!

I'm so happy you got so much accomplished. Planning a wedding and doing the wedding chores can be stressful and exhausting. Even more so with the future in-laws. It probably would have been better if you could have become friends first, but now you'll be able to know each other under different circumstances.

I hope you'll still have plenty of time to share the excitement with us and of course the pictures. Enjoy it all Marilyn.

Marilyn, it all sounds so lovely! I'm sure Melissa will be a beautiful bride and the day will be wonderful.

Joel and Shannon have decided to extend their engagement another year (which is good) so they can be more financially settled and have more planning time. So we won't be rushing into doing a lot yet... I'll probably have to take notes on your posts so we too cover all our bases. She has her dress, which is a biggie... but most of the rest is yet to be done so I was relieved when they decided not to rush things for this summer.

Please share photos with us... you know how us women are about weddings! LOL

Marilyn sounds like it was a fun day but a stressful one. Things will turn out beautifully they always do. Have you met your future SIL family prior to this outing? If not do like the italians usually do the mother of the bride always holds a dinner and invite the immediate in laws family right after the engagement. It does make the friendship start. Good luck and keep us posted...

It sounds like you're really involved in the wedding plans already. What a wonderful, though stressful, time! You got a lot done!

Enjoy as much as you can.

Please post pictures. A wedding is such fun! It would be great if you could get Angie or Val to photograph it. They're both so talented!

DianaB 02-24-2008 06:15 PM

It sounds like all-in-all you had a good day and got a lot accomplished even though you hit a snag. Even it got worked out. Let's hope that everything else runs smoothly and comes together easily. I'm sure that it was hard having almost in-laws coming with you that you hardly know, rying to make wedding decisions and be friendly at the same time. I'm sure that you handled everything very well. Keep us posted and you know that we always love pictures!!!! I'm here if you need me to help in any way!!!

I hope you and Melissa enjoy all the wedding planning. It is such a special time. Planning Angie's wedding was really hectic with the groom being so far away and for a little while Angie was out of town too so we were planning by phone. Looking back I really enjoyed it all though. Even the most difficult times are special memories now.
