I don't miss very many Oprah shows. I really want to see this one, but I'm so afraid it will make me sick. I know what goes on in those mills, I just don't know if my stomach can handle it, Lisa Ling really goes in depth with her stories.

I may not always agree with her, but I do think she has a good heart.

i dont get hm from work til after 5 so i'll miss the show... but i'm glad she's doing it on puppy mills... lots of ppl watch oprah, maybe it'll discourage lots from buying pet store puppies

It's on here in Chgo right now, beginning is rough.
She's asked everyone to buy from Responsible Breeders Only!!! Next dog she gets will be a Rescue. Way to go Oprah. Commercial is over, gotta go.

I hope to catch watch that show. I guess I am going to start another war, but everyone has their opinions and unless educated about a subject we don't know about. The public has no clue.

My daughter brought Gucci a yorkie from a puppy store, and now I realize that she probably did come from a puppy mill. Am I sorry no, because I know more now about the treatments of these poor dogs and if I was educated enough on puppy mills, chances are I would not have brought Gucci. Gucci had liver shunt and we suffered much grieve, spent a lot of money along the way .She is healthy as can be now. I think if I didnt buy her she be dead by now. So was it worth the money I spent?.. Yes she is my little angel

I do advocate not buying from puppy stores now that I am educated about it. It's a shame so many cute dogs are going to be neglected. It wasn't their fault. But I agree.

yeah i think it will be rough. it's a very hard thing to realize what goes on. i'm glad it's getting out on such a popular show.

It was a great show even though it was difficult to watch. She was sending out some very positive messages and I hope the public really thinks about the things she said.

Gina, I'm so glad little miss Gucci is doing better and that she ended up with you. I bet she's having a wonderful life being your spoiled little baby. :)

There's the possibility that Gucci didn't come from a puppy mill. I have a friend that raises labs and she is definitely not a puppy mill, but when she has trouble selling her puppies then she takes them to a pet store. I'm sure that there are others like her so I wouldn't assume that all puppies are from puppy mills just because they're in a pet store.

The show was really good, but man...the tears and the aching heart were a little hard to bear. There was a lot of good information. I taped the program so that my son and husband could see it.

What did you guys think of little Shrimp? I was so happy to see him all groomed and fixed up after those awful pics. He looked happy, even though he seemed a bit timid, but that could have been because of the crowds. I just loved seeing him on his owner's lap asleep. I wish all dogs could have that kind of life...from the day they are born and every day after.

Janet 04-04-2008 03:17 PM

He was so adorable and cleaned up so good. Sweet little Shrimp.

I'm watching right now and the 10 minutes I just caught brought me to tears. I have the urge to run to the spca right now to adopt a dog!

it was heartbreaking, crying through it, but they did a great job getting information out. 10,000 puppy mills in this country.
one thing that's so hard for people is they learn and want to buy a puppy from a petstore to rescue it, but that supports the puppy mill industry. supply and demand. i don't even buy anything, toys or nuttin, from a store that sells puppies or kittens. my soapbox for the day.
little shrimp was a doll. so sweet looking.

Well, I missed it completely. Had to work and did not think to program the DVR. Maybe it will be on again. I think all puppy mills should be shut down!!! Education is the key as with most things!!

katcarasella 04-04-2008 07:15 PM

I'll tell you I'm ready to go over to the local shelter in the morning and find a little one that we can spoil and love. I am dead serious!!
