Miracles DO happen!
 

I've been fighting for months with the IRS. After all this time they finally decided to let me know that my 2004 and 2005 tax filings had been rejected, so withheld my 2007 refund of over $2000 until they get it all straightened out.

SO I've gotten outrageous statements in the mail from them... the last one informed me that I owed $5,700 for 2005 alone.

Today I got a REFUND check for 2005 and a written apology from them for any inconvenience they may have caused me. **faint**

I still have to wait on the 2004 filing, but this is a small miracle... when does the IRS ever admit they were wrong and apologize?!?!

I hope the 2004 filing goes as well and they send me me 2007 refund soon too!

IF and it's a very BIG IF... they come to their senses on my 2004 filing I should get a small refund there too and finally get the 2007 refund they've withheld.

Oh man I would be so excited! But can't expect 2 miracles... not with the IRS at the helm. I just have to hope they don't try to smack me double for having been shown up this time. LOL

Tink, that's such a large group of people, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Whoever is working on 2004 probably doesn't get the connection. Hopefully they will just do the right thing and this will all be resolved very soon. It's an election year, and I really believe they want to make people happy right now. Could be wrong, but we can hope can't we!!! I know you will let us know how things turn out, but it looks to me like things in your world are definitely getting more positive, and that's a very, very good thing!!!!

Congrats. Tink, now you can go shopping... ;) go buy something nice for yourself you deserve it! I had to pay bills with mine and baby clothes. but my boy will look nice this summer in his new clothes, that's all that matters to me..

Tink, that's so great! I'm glad that they sent you a letter of apology too. Maybe they'll go easier on the other years after giving you such a hard time on 2005.

WOW! I have never heard of the IRS appologizing. Congrats on the check and :crossfingers: that the miracles keep coming!

When I had a similar problem with the IRS I got my Congressman involved and it was resolved in weeks! All you have to do is call his local office and they will put you on the path to them helping. They LOVE to help out with this sort of thing because it makes them more popular. When I had problems with Social Security last year my Congressman straightened it out in no time flat!
