Hey EARTHQUAKE!!!!

Well I've searched and searched and haven't seen anything on here about the earthquake we had this morning.

It shook my house and made the dogs bark.

But we are fine and I didn't really feel anything, just heard things rattling.

It registered a 5.4

That's the news for the day!!

Oh Janet, I saw that posted in song for the day.. You are serious wow!!. Are you sure that you were not dreaming.?. lol Thank God no damage, but it was pretty scary to feel the house shake...

HALEY 04-18-2008 06:00 AM

Oh my Janet i bet that was scary! Glad that your ok...

toodles 04-18-2008 06:11 AM

nope, Janet, you are not crazy :D in fact, if you look on YT, there were LOTS of people in the midwest and such that felt it. my daughters dad said he felt it this morning...and I thought he was crazy until I heard more about it. it seems there were SEVERAL states that were effected but I have not heard of any injuries or deaths or anything major.

Look at Kat's thread. She posted the news article. It says that nobody was hurt.

I'm glad you're okay Janet!

katcarasella 04-18-2008 08:27 AM

Oops!!

Sorry Janet, I didn't see your thread until after I posted my thread. :o

They just said there was an aftershock at 11:00, it was a 4.5 but I didn't feel it.

Janet 04-18-2008 10:02 AM

Yes, I was sitting here at the computer at 11:15 and starting feeling a rumbling and then the dogs lifted their heads. Next thing is I have 3 paintings on the wall and they started shaking and swinging. I just sat here like a dummy, because I was waiting on it to get worse. It seemed like it lasted about 15-20 seconds. They said we could still feel aftershocks for a few days.

Here I thought all I had to worry about in Indiana was tornadoes...LOL

I thought we were in Tornado Alley, not the Lake Michigan Fault Line.
If nobody hears from us in the next few days we should tell them to look for us in the cracks. :p

goofywife 04-18-2008 11:58 AM

Wow, how strange, I am glad you gals are ok

Forgivenmom5 04-18-2008 12:04 PM

Glad it wasn't bad. That happened to us here in Tennessee once. I didn't really feel it just all the dishes and things were rattling. My neighbor and I both came outside just to see if anyone else noticed or if we were crazy. It doesn't happen here much either.

I slept right through it--found out about it on the news this morning. Apparently, the shaking was strong enough here to wake up everyone I work with, just not me.

I missed the aftershock, too, and I was awake for that. I was bathing a dog, and the groomer came into the room and said, "Wow. Did you feel that?" I had no idea what she was talking about. Everyone else at work noticed, just not me. Perhaps I have really good balance, so the earth moving isn't a problem? ;)

I'm glad nobody was seriously injured.

That is so amazing. From what I've heard, there are lots of fault lines in the US, we just don't usually feel the shaking. We used to think the only ones who had to worry about quakes were folks in California. With all the high freeway bridges at huge interchanges in our major cities, it's kinda scarry (sp??). Hopefully the designers took that into consideration.

So glad all is well, and little or no damage for most folks!!

Someone in our group at Branson mentioned that Illinois had had an earthquake and I wondered if you'd felt it too, Janet. I hope that you don't have any that are stronger than that because I'd hate to think of the damage it could cause. We have faults here too. Supposedly our lake's dam is built on a fault. Real smart isn't it?

Janet 04-22-2008 08:54 AM

Well, you just bring your whole family here to live...at least we are a little farther away from the fault, but we could still have some building fall.
