House flipping!

You know when you see people on tv making old houses look new and it looks like it's so cool and would be fun? Well, turns out it's not! Kyle bought a house and got possession on Thursday, so I took Thursday and Friday off work to help him out with cleaning and painting so he could move in by the end of the weekend. I had never seen the house but he said it seemed to be in pretty good shape (it was originally built in 1912).
So on Thursday morning I met up with Kyle and it turns out he didn't get his keys until noon, so we wasted the morning. At noon we got to the house and it was a MESS. They had tracked dirt through the whole place while moving so the carpets were all disgusting, and they left piles of junk in the back yard and none of the house had been cleaned at all, just dirt everywhere. So we worked until 10 that night cleaning and pulling off baseboards and patching holes (with the help of his family)
On Friday morning we went and bought primer and ceiling paint. After sanding everything down we started the ceiling paint and prepping all the walls and closets and everything... got home all sweaty and gross at 10:30 that night.
Finally Saturday morning we got COLORS. Now that made it a little more exciting! By the time I left at 6 we already had the first coat of paint through most of the house. Then on Sunday we finished the second coat early in the day, so all that's left is changing some light fixtures, fixing and painting doors, and buying new baseboard! I'm so excited to see it finished!
Here are some pictures of "before" and I'll hopefully show you some "after" by the weekend!

hehehe in the first picture Kyle and his cousin Chris are just posing in the living room... Kyle isn't that short, his cousin is just GIANT! He just signed with the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL and he's off to try out in June! It's pretty exciting. It's our version of NFL for those who don't know :)

Wow, Lindsey, that looks like quite a project. Are you painting before or after installing the trim?? Can't wait to see the after pics!!! I love projects!! Everyone is so focused.

We took the trim off for painting... well most of it anyway. We forgot some so we just taped around it :)

Lindsey, it looks like a cute little house! Like you said once the paint is on and the picture hung it's going to be really cute! It looks like he made a good purchase.

I love doing this kind of thing. When we bought our rental house in town, it was so much fun fixing it and painting it. I would like to try another, but hubby keeps dragging his feet.
