Has the well gone dry??
Water problems at my homestead. The pitfalls of county living.
Thursday morning, taking my shower. Water pressure started out normal, then down to a trickle. Not a happy camper. Thursday evening was ok again. What the?? Friday morning everything was fine in my shower. A friend at work told me that I had probably lost my prime in pump. To turn on all faucets in house full speed for 10 minutes to flush air out of lines and it should prime itself. So I did that. Wrong thing to do!! Lost all water! Again.. not a happy camper. This morning had water back! Took my shower. Water went down to a trickle again. So I made the call. Well man is coming out within 2 hours. I of course am a little worried. But.. 3 years ago had to have main water pipes connected to well replaced, so shouldn't be that...4 years ago had to have water pump replaced, so that should be ok.. lets hope the well isn't going dry!!! Guess I will find out today what the problem is and hopefully will be a quick and cheap fix. |
Hope you have a quick and easy fix too! My mom just had to fix her sewerage lne and have the tank pumped out. I'm sure it may have been less than the $1,000 she had to put out if she would have taken care of it when it first began giving problems.

I hope it's something simple and inexpensive!

Yes, you're right, the JOY...LOL of country living. We had to have a new pump last year. I hope whatever it is, it doesn't take much to fix and is not expensive.
|
What a bummer! Have you found out anything yet? Our water was off a while back because the county hit the line! I was so glad to have it back on so I can understand how you feel. I take it that you're on well water. We're on a rural water district and our water comes from town.
|
We're on city water, but I remember the days when we lived in the country and were on a well. Maybe your pressure tank has sprung a leak. Sure hope it's something simple and low cost!!!!

I have water!!!
It turned out to be the connection switch wasn't doing its job, had to be replaced. $107.00 total even with service charge plus labor... not bad. But I need to replace the holding tank. Before winter. Ugg.. that will be another $400.00. I told him to go ahead and schedule it in. Still pretty low. Better than putting in a new well! So tonight I am a happy camper. |
Wonderful news!!!!!! :congrats::cheer::coolsmiley:
So glad it was an easy, inexpensive fix!!!!!! |
I'm so glad it was something relatively inexpensive and simple!
Water is something you really do NOT want to be without! |

YAY!!! Happy to know you have your water pressure back. We just don't realize how much and how often we use water till we don't have it.
|
Happy to hear that it was something relatively minor!
|
Good news Shada! Even with the $400 you'll have to spend, you got away with a good price.
|
I'm glad that you're up and running again!!! Not having water is no fun!
