Just popping in to say hi!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I hope everyone is doing well!

I have been very busy designing albums and working in the photo lab. In a few minutes, I'll be leaving to go to my very first OFFICIAL pre-wedding bridal interview. My new boss wants me to get a feel for the whole process, start to finish, so he called and asked me to come to the studio today.

I'm scheduled to work the lab Saturday during the wedding I was going to shoot, but I'm trying to get it worked out so that I can work morning shift and then shoot the wedding in the afternoon. My boss wants me to use one of his Nikon cameras so I can see how awesome they are. lol! It'll be so nice to finally shoot with good quality equipment. His flash and lenses are AWESOME! I'm excited to see what kind of pictures I take with his stuff.

I am so lucky to have found someone to train me to do something I really enjoy, and to get paid to do it! If I didn't have such a desire to help people and make a difference in the world, this might just be my career. As much as I love it though, I'd rather do something that has more of an impact. Anyway, it's fun for now and the skills I'm learning will be useful to me for the rest of my life. What more could I ask for at this point in my life?

Okay, so that's enough rambling for now. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm still alive! :D Hope I haven't missed out on too much of your lives this summer. I think things will be less busy when school starts back. I miss chatting with you ladies!

Hi Angie I'm glad you stopped in! Your boss sounds awesome and he is really teaching you some valuable skills! Even if it doesn't turn into a career, think of the great shots you'll get of Maddie and Marty!:D

I might just have to take them to the studio some day to get some nice pics. :)

I am really hoping I get to go to the wedding on Saturday. It sounds amazing and the bride is just gorgeous. They went all out on the wedding too. Beautiful venue, horse & carriage, the works... And in between the wedding and reception we're sneaking away with the bride and groom to go to a GORGEOUS spot in the oldest town in Tennessee to get some shots. It would be an amazing opportunity for me if I can go. I am SO close to just quitting my job at the lab so that I could be more available for weddings and portrait sessions and not have to worry about scheduling conflicts... The only thing stopping me is that my boss isn't in the best health and he's having surgery next month. He'll be out of work for three months. I just don't know right now. I hate making decisions like this. Any advice or suggestions?

This sounds like such a wonderful opportunity for you, Angie. I

t's good to hear from you. I haven't been on too much lately either. There's just been too much other stuff going on to keep up on here. It seems like 2 steps forward and 3 steps back as far as keeping up on the posts. We're leaving for Tablerock Lake in Missouri on Friday and will be gone for a few days. My Mom's sisters and some of their cousins all get together down there for the weekend so I'm looking forward to a really good time with everyone. Then we're going to Branson for a couple of days. We're taking Jaci's boyfriend, Nate, and he wants to go to Silver Dollar City. Personally, I think that it's too hot!!! I'll talk to ya' when we get back.

Hope you have a great time! You'll have to tell us all about when you get back! :)

I will. I'll try to take lots of pictures too.

Right now I'm trying to get laundry done and everything packed. Got a meeting tonight so I need to be getting it done.

You found a great mentor Angie! My ex was a professional photographer. He was fabulous. Your quote under your signature reminds me of him.

I have no advice, except to follow your heart as much as your budget will allow.

I hope you get to go to the wedding.

Thanks Judy! I do get to go! I found out today. One of the girls I work with switched shifts with me so I'll be working 7:30 to 3 and she's working my 3-10:30 shift. That means I wake up at 6, go to work, leave work and drive to the wedding, shoot the wedding, and get home really late. It'll be a long day, but well worth it for the experience.

Tomorrow I'm doing an infant session--part in studio and part on location. I'm so excited!

How exciting! Are you allowed to share some of the pix with us?

I'm so happy for you, Angie!

AngieDoogles 07-25-2008 05:55 AM

Thanks Judy! I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem with me sharing my own photos. I don't know if I'll be observing/learning today or if I'll actually be taking some pics. I'm excited about either though!
