Well, First Week is Over
It was only a 3 day week, but I survived the first 1/2 week of school. I just don't know if I'm going to be able to handle these kids for too many more years. I have some work ahead of me to get some of the new ones in shape so they'll know the rules. There are a few that I'm sure are going to buck my system....but we all know who will win....right?....LOL
It really has been a little nerve wrecking this year for some reason. Maybe my patience is growing thin...I don't know. |
well it was good that it was a short week that way you can just kind of ease back into the routine. I know you will have those kids whipped in to shape soon and that you are only doing it for their safety. Only 2 weeks to go till Labor Day then another day off LOL.
Thanks Lynne, I hope I can get them into the groove of my rules. They won't like the alternative. Yes!!!! A holiday...my saving grace during the school year...that and weekends...LOL
I'm sure that you'll do fine. It's just getting in the groove of things again. I bet that all of those new little kindergarteners will keep you laughing and will be a joy to see every morning.
I am really anxious for them to start (the triplets), but I may regret saying that. I know the people that did own the house are moving out now, so it won't be much longer.
Janet you will slowly get back into the groove. Yes like Diana said those kindergarten kids will keep you on your toes , just look at those angelic faces each day. :) Labor day will be here before you know it...
Angelic???? I don't know about that...LOL.
Ok................Little Monsters!!!!! Does that term fit better? LOL
Hope your second week was better than the first!
My first week ended on a pretty good note. We had our bus evacuations today and they went well. Had a few that didn't listen to instructins, but I bet they won't forget them next time...LOL.
Janet come be my little girl's bus driver. She had a new bus driver Friday and he yelled at her. She has never caused any trouble at school or anywhere else she has been. Gets a little rowdy or sassy at home but never anywhere else. He just yelled at her because she sat in the wrong place. She didn't realize she was supposed to go to the back.

I would expect a parent to call me if I did that. There's no reason to yell. I find speaking nicely (most of the timea) works much better and making them understand why. There is no reason to go nuts to a child...I always feel I may be the only good person happening to them that day. Who knows what kind of home life they really have. Debbie, I really would speak to him about it, either that or wait and see if it ever happens again, then speak with him.
Janet - do those kids do a full day, or do you transport both morning and afternoon kids? My friend Brenda used to do both the morning and afternoon kids and she would say the afternoon kids were always more trouble - I think the morning kids just got her frazzled and she had less patience in the afternoon.
All the kids from Kindergarten through 12th grade attend school all day. So I take them to school of a morning and then bring them home in the afternoon.
