Sinus Infection?

Does anyone have any experience with Sinus problems? I get sinus headaches occasionally when the weather changes. But I've had my current one since thurs. & no pain meds will touch it. I have tons of pressure in my forehead, cheeks, & behind my eyes. I've found if I take nyquil at night it helps me sleep and dayquil during the day helps with some of the pain, but makes me foggy.

Does anyone have any home remedys for this? I refuse to use a netting pot, I think it looks so gross. Any help would be appreciated.

I just take over the counter meds unless it's too bad and then I call the Dr. Hope it doesn't last much longer. I can handle just about any cold or flu, but the sinus headaches and pressure is one that can put me in bed.

My sinus are really bad now, and since my son broke my nose last Friday, there worse now, i don't take anything, i tried everything and nothing helps. i just wait until the rag weed calms down and they go away.. lots of coffee and sleep is what i do...

Maybe ragweed is what gets me. Mine are always the worst in the fall. And they are really bad right now.

Mine are worst in the fall too. The ragweed and the dust from driving the bus down gravel roads just messes me up terrible. Just got over it as a matter of fact, but it will happen again before it freezes.

I take antibiotics. My doctor and I found one that worked. Of course, I forgot the name.

You know the rule - if it's green, you need medicine. (Yucky, but true).

That is gross. So far I don't have much coming out & I think that's the problem. It's all stuffed up in there & won't come out. What does come out is still pretty clear.

i work with aggregate, and boy it is dusty, and it is black when i blow my nose, my sisnus are killing me today, and my poor son Micah is the same way, his nose was running yesterday and coughing, i called his doctor and she told me to give him clairton D so that is what i did... me i took two tylenol this morning, my eyes are so puffy nose running, terrible...

I bought some zyrtec-d last night. It seems to be helping me. Drixorol used to be the magic cure, but they took it off the market.
I can't believe you're doctor adviced you to give a child clariton-d it has a lot of pseudoephrine in it. I can't take it it makes me all jittery. Did she maybe mean the regular clariton which is just 10mg of loratidine?

Also I can't use a nettie pot....for 1 I saw it on t.v. & it was so gross. 2. I had my nose broke really bad when i was little & it was very crooked, I had it reshaped when I was in highschool, but I still find it hard to believe that that water would flow so easily through my nose. I've broken my nose 7 times. Which could be the reason for most of my problems.

Yes, the broken nose could be the reason. Your sinuses are blocked and that is why you are having so much pain. They will be chronically infected too, if they can't drain. My husband's sinuses above his eyes were chronically blocked many many years ago. The docs said the chronic infection would eat through the bone, into his brain, if not taken care of. So, he had the sinusus above his eyes obliterated, they don't exist anymore. Then he had drain channels put into the sinuses in the cheeks, and finally he had a rhinoplasty on the nose, bacause like you, his nose was messed up. It all really helped! He had to have the cheek sinuses redone about 20 years later (done first in 1982, redone in 2000). He's probably had 1-2 sinus infections since 1982.

They have childrens clariton D, 3/4 tsp, she told me to give to him and oh yes it wired him up last night, but i tell you what his nose stopped running, his eyes looked much better, you have to think my child is big for 19 months old, he's about 30 lbs, now he has been taking childrens medicine ever since he was a year he out grew infant medicine... so i trust my doctors there the best around this area..

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you're doctor was bad. I didn't know they made children's clariton d. I'm glad it helped him.

Wow that sounds painful. This is the first time I've had pain & pressure last like this ever. Usually it only lasts a day or two & it has something to do with the weather. I usually don't have any problem with drainage, just this time. If it doesn't go away by thurs. I'll probably call my doctor & see what he thinks.
