Hubby going into the hospital
Many of you know that my husband has heart failure, among several other chronic illnesses. He hasn't felt well the past 3-4 months. His cardiologist thought it was due to de-conditioning - not exercising enough. So, he started physical therapy and cardiac rehab a couple of months ago, but had to stop because he just felt so bad.
So, she (his cardiologist) is going to put him in the hospital this Wednesday, put a catheter (Swan-Ganz) into his neck and through to his heart to measure the pressure in his heart and lungs. He'll have to stay in ICU a day or so, so that she can see what his heart/lungs are doing over time. This will help her know how to tailor his medications. She did this 3 years ago, and he has felt pretty good since then. It's time to do it again. They will also upgrade the software in his pacemaker and change the battery. He should be out by Friday or Saturday. |
I'm so sorry about your husband's health. I know that it has to be a big worry for you, Gayle. It sounds like he has a pretty good doctor to stay on top of his health like she is. Keep us posted and I'll say a prayer.

Gayle, you were such a support when my husband was going through his heart issues. I so hope all goes well for you and that this is all 100% successful with as little discomfort as possible. Be sure and take care of yourself as you go through this. Please know we are thinking of you!!

Gayle, I'll be keeping you both in my prayers not only during this procedure but always. I know it has to be very stressful for you both.

Thanks so much Ladies! I think everything will be OK, but of course, one never knows, so it is a bit stressful. Thankfully, the hospital is only about 10 minutes from where I work. I will be with him during all the procedures, but if he is doing OK afterwards, I can go to work. However, I have a laptop, for just this reason, and the hospital has wireless internet, so I can stay connected to my email at work and let people know to call me on my cell or email me, if needed. I am very lucky in that I can work from home/hospital, if needed. Fortunately, I have guest speakers for my class this Friday, so I don't have to worry about covering my class.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both!

I'm just letting you know that you and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers today. Please let us know how he's doing.

I"m sitting in the waiting room, they just took him back for his right heart catherization where they will measure the pressures in his heart and lungs. He's in good spirits and everything has gone pretty good so far. It shouldn't take too long, but they are not scheduled to start for another hour. I don't know if they are running early, or if he will lay in the cath lab for an hour. It's nice it have the internet to surf to pass the time!!!
Thanks for all your support and prayers! |
