Long lines to vote today!

My silly sentiments about standing in line from 1:35pm till 4:05pm - but I VOTED!!!!

Did you wait in long lines to vote today?

DianaB 11-04-2008 05:28 PM

Wow! You deserve a metal for standing in that long line, Val!! That's awful!!! I live in a very small town and my daughter and I walked right in and voted. No wait. If I were you, the next time I'd send in an early vote.

I voted this morning before work.. in and out in about 5 minutes!

My goodness! That IS a LOOOOONG line!!!

How long did it take you???

Dobie 11-05-2008 05:36 AM

I voted by absentee ballot this year - so luckily, I didn't have to wait in any lines.

Wow! I don't know if I would have waited, I would have come back later I guess. :) Good for you though! I actually had a dream voting experience. I walked to the polls with my two friends who just got back from their honeymoon. It was less than a 1/3 of a mile from their house. We walked right in, walked right up and got our ballot. No waiting in line AT ALL. It took me less than 30 seconds to color in my choice of our countries fate! :)

We live in the country but the polling location is at the church just down the road. Two townships vote there. Took spouse 45 minutes at in line and then I went at 9:30 and waited a little over an hour in line.

Glad it's over, now maybe people will quit talking about it so much.

My parents live 12 miles on the other side of town, and it took them over 3 hours to vote. In fact, 2-3 hours is how long it took everyone I know that voted here in the Charleston area, and all different polling locations at that!

And yes, I second that. I'm glad it's over. Whew.

I am sorry so many had a long waiting time. :(

It only took me about 2 minutes. There was only 2-3 people in there. about 600 had already voted before me at 1:00. It was about a 5 minute drive.

I voted in early voting a couple of weeks ago. There were 2 or 3 people in line ahead of me. They had 12 or so voting machines in the early polling place I went to. Took me all of about 10 minutes.

More people voted in early voting here than on election day. Our election officials are pondering why the turnout was not better. The biggest reason is that we are not a swing state. We are a bright red state, so everyone knows we will be called as soon as the polls close. Unless they are concerned about the local, state, and congressional elections, there is not a big reason to vote. The Presidential selection is a given, and the Presidential election is what is largely responsible for the great voter turnout in the swing states.

Wow, Indiana was pretty exciting!!!! If Texas had a chance of being close like that, there would have been longer lines here for sure.

Voting was great. It was in a little white building with one voting machine. I was the only person there at the time. I knew one of the 3 women there and spent a good 1/2 hour chatting about this and that with all of them.

In Brooklyn, there were 2 years I didn't vote. You had to figure out where your polling place was, and then parking was impossible. I went home a couple of times without voting.
