I'm so sorry. My father-in-law had prostate cancer.

My oldest childhood friend called me this morning and he also has prostate cancer, his PSA was 8 1/2. He has had all tests done and will find out tomorrow if it has spread and what his options are.
Our Mothers were best friends when we were children, we started "dating" at 13, on and off until were 18, went our separate ways but have always remained close friends.
He is 63. Please add him to your prayer list.
Thanks,
Donna

Donna, all this prostate cancer is disconcerting!!! I heard from an old college friend that her husband (age 58) has prostate cancer and his younger brother (by 2 years) also discovered he had prostate cancer (within two weeks of each other). Isn't that ironic!

There's just too much prostate cancer right now!!!!! EEK!!!

donna1990 02-23-2009 01:13 PM

I did a lot of research when Rod had it and it is the most curable cancer.
It is so sad that men have to accept the fact that they will be impotent, but better than dying. My husband is impotent and he didn't have surgery, just hormone therapy and radiation.

Donna I will keep your friend Tony in my prayers.. How old is he? My father in law as you know recently passed away and it started with prostate cancer. But he has had it over 10 years, they say the older the better it is, I guess because it doesn't spread so quickly. Gayle could explain it better than I .

My husband is so stubborn he has not gone to check his levels, you would think with his father having it he would be scared. MEN!! I am going to make an appt. for him soon.

donna1990 02-23-2009 03:06 PM

Tony is 65, W.C. is 63.

Our last pastor had prostate cancer before he came to our church and he always had problems with his numbers. My FIL also had prostate cancer and refused to do any treatment for it. It was starting to cause him a lot of pain before he passed away of heart problems.

Donna, I'm so sorry to hear about your childhood friend. I'll be praying.
