I'm going to hear the former Vice President!
Al Gore is giving a lecture at my school tomorrow. My hubby and I were lucky enough to get tickets. (We waited in line forever!) I may not agree with everything he says, but I'm super excited to get to hear him speak. The lecture is titled "Leading Voices in Public Health." Should be interesting!

That's really cool!!! I'd love to hear him speak, especially on that topic!

He's one person that I don't think that I'd care to listen to. I don't agree with a lot of what he says.

We had an AMAZING turn-out and the lecture was great. I had no idea that Gore was such a good speaker with a hilarious sense of humor. I'm definitely grateful for the chance to hear him speak.
Gayle, as far as health issues, he discussed the effect of temperature and climate on the spread of disease. He talked about how insects become more prevalent during hotter seasons and therefore diseases are more common. He also discussed the fact that the cold often slows down the reproduction of bacteria. Judy probably has a much better understanding of that kind of thing than I do, but it was interesting. |

I found this for you Judy!
http://www.tricities.com/tri/news/lo...nedited/22281/ You should watch the first five or ten minutes. He is pretty funny. Now don't swoon too much! :D Edit: And don't hate me, but I had front row seats. LOL |

An interesting fact is that many, maybe even most (since I don't hear everyone) politicians are VERY good speakers and pretty charismatic - or else they wouldn't have gotten that far in politics.
I've never attended a speech by a politician that I didn't think was very well delivered, and I found myself being captivated by the speaker. |
How cool, he always seems like such a character! And it is refreshing that he cares about the environment.

Whether or not global warming exists, it does not exonerate us from acting responsibly for our children's' sakes. I think that most of us are probably doing our best anyway. Diana, I'm sure that, as farm owners, you and Greg take excellent care of your environment. I was a hippie, and we were very involved in what they call "going green" now. I just do not walk out of a room without turning off the lights. These things are just habits. |
Judy, I sent my resume in for a position that will help recruit employees for "green" jobs in my city. I don't know if I can take the job if offered. It all depends on whether or not I get into grad school and my application to DCS, but I think it's a job I would really love.
