Drat......

I had so much going on last week with going to Arkansas and stuff that I forgot to post about this.....

Last Saturday I ran into town to go to the garage sales. I saw a police car that had people pulled over a couple of times and was trying to remember to watch my speed (my biggest problem). Sure enough, I forgot and got pulled over!! I was doing 42 in a 30 and ended up with a ticket! $112.....Can you believe that? Of course, it had to be right in town where people were driving by!!! I had one guy come up to me at church on Sunday and asked me what was going on with the policeman yesterday!!!......DUH!!!! He commented that I could have been asking him for directions!! Yeah right! It sure made my garage sale day pretty expensive!! He was still out today so, believe me, I was well UNDER the speed limit!!!

That stinks!!! These policemen have nothing better to do... lol Yeah I exceed the limits once in awhile lol. It was an expensive garage sale day for you for sure.

Should I make arrangements for you and Marilyn to go to some kind of safe driving school? :D

It is really hard to go 30 unless there's a car in front of you going slow. I usually do abut 40. I'm a ticket waiting to be given. In Roxbury, the speed limit near the school is 20! I have to ride my brake for that. I kind of like that though. It's very respectful of the children.

$112 is too high. You could have bought a lot of stuff at that sale.

By the way, do not go to traffic court and call the judge an idiot!!!

I don't think that would work here!!!! I think that I'll just go in and pay it. I always drive too fast so I knew this day was coming! He could have written me up for not having a seatbelt too and not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, but he gave me a break!!! I'm not complaining...........much.

(When I first noticed the officer he had his lights on behind me befpre I came to a stop sign. I went on around the corner to park out of the way and because I was flustered I didn't come to a complete stop.)

Only in a very slow sort of way!!!!! Of course, it was a fairly busy street in town!!! Then to add insult to injury, it will be printed in the newspaper that I got a ticket, the reason, and the amount of the fine. I'll have a lot of people making comments after that!!!!

Blueyes 06-08-2009 01:51 PM

They print this in the PAPER??!! Oh, my. If they did that around here, there would be no room for the real news. Our police reports are full of drug busts, shootings, knifings, assaults, burglaries, much of it gang related. I can't imagine reporting speeding tickets. What an innocent place you must live in.

Yep, we're VERY small town!! The front page news lists what the commissioners meeting consisted of. We don't have much major news in a town of 2,600!!!! If we get a new police car that's big stuff!!! At least it won't be put on the front page and I'll be listed with all of the other people who got tickets so I won't stand out. They also have a list of all the people who are arrested and all of the court cases filed and seen in court. They used to list who was in the hospital but HIPAA put a stop to that. Very small town!!! Oh, and they only print the paper twice a week! There's just not enough news!!!

One of the town papers had an article in it that the Wrights of Hobart (Jessie and Steve) were entertaining family over the weekend.

I have to scan our newspaper. The crime section goes into detail about how the driver (and yes, they give the name and address) responds to different parts of the alcohol test.

There was a real crime in the town next to mine a year or so ago. The thief shot and killed a young state trooper. They knew he was hiding in a house nearby. Oddly, the house burned down the next day.
