sorry everyone just got back in the office today, tomorrow we have to go to a funeral Mike's grandmoter passed yesterday.
Anyways Micahs, surgery went well, he woke up a little too fast, screamed his head off for about 20 min. did very well yesterday, the right ear is draining a little blood but that is normal for the first 3-5 days, he don't like loud noises right now, not use to it yet...
we were down there a total about 4 hours, the antisteoloist almost cancelled the surgery cause he didn't know what kind of heart murmur he had ( OMG i was freaking out some) anyways the ENT and the antisteologist decided that the surgery was mild enough to perform, the antisteologist still wasn't too happy. i had to sign more consent forms, which made me nervous as hell, let me tell you...

But i was home yesterday, and it was like a new little boy! I'm not use to talking normal tone with him, we always had to talk a little louder than normal, but so wonderful, we read books yesterday, i'm trying to correct the way he was hearing words right now, but i'm not rushing it, his speech classes start next week i can't wait... what a whole new world for him..
I took him for a walk last night, and he was just looking around, i know he is hearing all the sounds for the first time without that fluid in his ears...

Thanks everyone for your prayers.. i'll post some new pictures soon... :)

such wonderful new's about Micah, glad to hear everything went good.
sorry to hear about Mike's grandmother passing.

DianaB 06-18-2009 10:06 AM

What a good report!!! I'm so glad to hear that everything went so well.

HALEY 06-18-2009 10:12 AM

Thanks, i never want to go thru that again, anytime soon, such a long day, plus when Micah woke up it was very heart breaking to see him scream like that and there wasn't anything i could do..
But so far so good, hopefully he stays that way.
I just ordered him a Ear Band-it.. for when he goes swimming this summer, i don't know when that's going to be, we have to wait for his follow up apt. in August.. Looks like he's going to miss most of the summer... :( But he can hear again and that's what's important right now.

forgot to tell everyone, Saturday before surgery, i had to run Micah to med-express with a 103 temp. he got two ear infections again :( so glad this is all over with.. my poor baby...

I'm so glad everything went well and that he is doing fine! I know what you mean about hearing. My husband is hearing impaired and when he got his first hearing aids many years ago, it was amazing to see him react to things he had never heard before!

I hope Micah continues to do well!

Janet 06-19-2009 04:17 AM

Oh Haley I'm so glad Micah is doing so well. I bet you were so worried. I hope that he is enjoying all the new sounds...bless his heart. So anxious to see pictures of the little guy. Hugs to Micah!!!

I know that it was scary for you to go through but the results are well worth it. We never like to have our kids go through stuff like that but we do it because we know that in the end they will be better.

Believe me, I've dealt with many trips to the ER for stitches. We've had several miscarriages, a couple of surgeries, and some other stuff that I'm not at liberty to talk about, and all of these within my own family. You're the Mom and you have to be there for your kids but it's not always easy. The worst I've dealt with was when my daughter almost bled to death after a miscarriage. I was the most scared that I've ever been.

I'm so glad that you're able to tell a difference in Micah's hearing. It really proves how much he needed the tubes in his ears.

Ditto, Diana.

When they have a rare blood type and they're lying there literally bleeding to death with no replacement supply available, you'll offer to do anything to save them. I know I offered to lay down next to my oldest daughter and let me tranfuse directly to her.
