I'll be out of town

Hi All! I'll be out of town for a few days (Sunday-Wednesday). I have to attend a conference in Atlanta, Georgia with one of my students. She got a scholarship and I am her mentor for the scholarship period so we have to attend a conference together to learn what we need to do in the next couple of years (the scholarship is for 2 years of study).

I really hate leaving Gary when he is not feeling well, but he will be OK (I hope). My daughter is only 10 minutes away so she can run interference if need be.

I will get to see lots of friends at the conference and normally I would really be looking forward to going, but I am still tired from the cruise and a hectic week at work - and then worrying about Gary and his gut.

But it will be fun to see my old friends. I have lots of friends/colleagues around the country that I only see at conferences, so that will be nice. I'll check in with my fancy phone - so you won't be completely rid of me! ;)

How exciting!!! I'm sure that Gary's going to be in good hands while you're gone!! Take care, rest up, and enjoy seeing your friends!!!

It would be so nice to have a position where you can travel once in awhile. Have a great time with friends.

It is nice to be able to travel. I used to enjoy it more than I do now. Because of Gary's health, I am often very nervous leaving him. Sometimes he travels with me, but this time he just doesn't feel well enough, and so I am reluctant to leave him - although I know he will be fine!

I'm just a worry wart!

Gayle like the rest mentioned he is in good hands, he is not alone unattended.. He needs his rest and I hope that he is feeling better today. A cruise takes a lot and when you get back you need another vacation.. Go have a good time and rest when you get back. Enjoy!

Gayle, hope you enjoy your trip and seeing your friends again, and hopefully Gary will get some rest while you are gone, I am sure he will be fine with your daughter being so close.
You sure have racked up the miles this year with all of your travels. Be safe!!!!

Have a safe and fun trip Gayle! Hopefully Gary will be all better when you get back home. I'm sure your daughter will take very good care of him.:)

Hi from Atlanta. Glad to be on the ground. Flying is not my favorite thing. Yes I have racked up slot offlying miles this fall. But I assure you, I'd rather be on the ground. Short messages from my iPhone. I will check in during the evening when I can. Just talked to Gary. As you all said, he is fine. Night all.

Still in Atlanta. Very long day today but I listened to some very interesting talks on aging. I have visited with lots of old friends and students. These conferences are very energizing.

Gary sounds good on the phone and he says his stomach is feeling better. YAY!

Tomorrow is another long day then a half day on Wed. Then home on Wed. Can't wait to get home.

Gayle so glad you are having a good time! And so glad that Gary is doing better too! I bet you are ready to get home. You were barely back from the cruise and then off again! Have a safe trip home Wed.:)

So glad you are having an enjoyable trip and that Gary is feeling better. I'm sure you were concerned about leaving. It's so hard to know what to do. So good that all is well!!

How great that Gary is feeling better! I bet you are much more relaxed knowing that, and are enjoying seeing your friends and going to interesting talks.

How is your student doing? Is she going for her Ph.D.? What is she going to be working on?

Hi all. Looking forward to getting on that plane home tomorrow!!! Gary still says he feels better! Yay!

Yes my student is getting her PhD. She is studying health literacy in older Hispanic women. Specifically why older Hispanic women do not get cervical cancer screening.

That is interesting. Cultural differences and how to work with them is much more important than we think,, especially with the world becoming smaller and smaller.
On a larger scale, it is the way to world peace, I think.
