Crescent Roll Recipe

Here's the recipe that I said that I would post for crescent rolls. These are really easy to make and are very declicious. I always make these for the holidays. They can be made ahead and frozen, then warmed up a few minutes before serving. I usually make mine in the bread machine and then take them out to shape and bake.

CRESCENT ROLLS

1 pkg. dry yeast dissolved in 1/4 c. of warm water with 1 tsp. sugar added
4 1/2 c. flour

In a pan, heat until dissolved:

3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening (I use a stick of butter)
1 tsp. salt

Let cool until temperature is warm.
(I heat the milk, sugar, and salt in the microwave, then add the stick of butter to cool it off.)

Add 3 beaten eggs to the yeast and flour. Then let the mixture double in size then punch down and knead. Make 2-3 evenly sized balls from the dough. Take one ball and roll it out into a circle (If you let the dough "rest" while you're rolling it will stay in a circle better.) Cut your circle of dough like a pizza. (I usually cut it into 12-16 pieces depending on the size of your circle.) Roll the dough up starting at the big end and rolling it to the point. Let raise for about 1 hour in a warm place. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

When using your bread machine put the dry yeast in first, then the flour. Then I put the milk mixture in (make sure you add the 1/4 c. of water to the milk mixture)and on top, add the eggs. Make sure you turn your bread machine settings to manual so it won't bake. Then take out your dough and follow the directions on rolling the dough out.

Oh these look YUMMY! I like the fact that you can do the dough in the bread machine. Sounds much easier.

I can't wait to try these. ;)
