Pictures I Took Today!

I guess my Mother decided to drive to Lafayette to get some supplies for her dialysis. I had no idea she was going. On her way home she got a little cold so reached over to adjust the air conditioner and well....she went off the road and hit a sign....

She's okay, but I had my purse and keys ready to head out to pick up the bus kids and she calls just bawling. I got to school and called my brother to stop by Mom's and that I'd be there as soon as I got done with my route.

Do any of you have Dr. Kevorkian's phone number...email...anything? Oh...and not for my mother....

I hope it was the brother who helped her get the car!

I'm sorry it happened but not surprised.

Oh Janet, I am so sorry that this has happened, not that you weren't expecting it to happen sooner or later, but not this soon.
Just remember, the vehicle can be replaced, your mom can't be, so be thankfull that she wasn't hurt, the rest will get worked out.

Now it's time to let the brother know exactly what you go through and make him help you, he had enough nerve to take your mom to get the car so let him deal with this mess.

We will talk tomorrow!!

ugh Janet, so sorry this has happened but glad she is okay!
My grandmother recently let her drivers license expire and sold her car :)

Your grandmother is one wise woman! There are not many like her.

My mom quit driving at 79. She had a small stroke and it affected her depth perception. Everything else was just fine, and she had no other affects from the stroke, but she was afraid to drive any more. I am so lucky!

Oh my goodness Janet I'm so sorry. Glad to know your mom is ok thought.

It looks like an easy fix, hopefully your brother will help pay for it.

Not sure if to be surprise it happen this soon

I took Mom to the insurance agency today and then I called after I got home. I wanted to know if they would cancel her insurance because of all the accidents and they said that Progressive has never done that. So my next hope it that she won't be able to get her license renewed in either in Feb. or July....can't remember. Anyway...I'll be finding out and try to run some interference there. I mentioned to her that she needed to think about not driving anymore and she just about threw a fit. I can't stop her....so running interference is all I can do. I just don't think her Dr. will do anything about it.

You are lucky Gayle....I wish my Mom would just realize the danger she puts herself and others in. She just won't listen.

Gary's grandad refused to stop driving and gary's dad took something off the car so it wouldn't start and then refused to fix it.

Janet I think you can go to the dept of public safety and tell them her driving history. Laws differ in different states, but in Texas they can intervene when someone refuses to stop driving.

Oh my! If it isn't one thing with Mom, it's another! My heart goes out to you, Janet!

My mother was the same way, and truthfully, looking back, I'm glad she got to live her life to the fullest. We couldn't have stopped her either, and she also put us through tons of stress!

Hang in there!~

Sneaky Sneaky but not a bad idea

I know she wants to live her life to the fullest but in this case other drivers or pedestrian are at risk :(

Oh, Janet, you poor girl!! Your dear Mother is going to put you in an early grave!!! Do they make bumper pads that can go on all four corners of a car? Maybe you should check into that!!! I know how fustrated you are with her........just remember that your days with her are lessening all the time and that one day you'll look back and wish that you still had these issues to deal with again. Find a bright side and give your Mom a hug!!! Then let your brothers deal with the aftermath!!!!! LOL

Janet 09-05-2010 12:52 PM

Oh I know our time is getting shorter and shorter so I'm trying to just not let it get to me too bad. I did hug her...she just cried and cried. I felt so bad for her. She was embarassed to drive it to church today so she drove her old car. Tonight my older brother will pick her up to take her to his house for a cookout for his birthday. She's looking forward to that.

DianaB 09-06-2010 08:09 AM

Bless her heart. Give her a hug from me too.

paula1961 09-06-2010 03:49 PM

I'm glad she's atleast letting others drive her to places.
