Sears has Kenmore, and they are highly rated in Consumers Reports, but nothing was on sale, and I don't want to spend $500, plus shipping.
Maytag's reputation has fallen off from years ago, but I am sure that this will be just fine. I'm not sure they build these appliances to last forever, like they used to.
I think the Hotpoint I have now has been here since the 80's. My cousin's 40 year old washing machine has just finally died. Two of my TV's are at least 10 years old, with the bag backs and no high def. My car is a 1996, and still running. I believe in keeping things until they die, especially because new things aren't made to last.
In fact, my black, knee-high, high heel boots are at least 15 years old, and still look good, except that the leather has gotten a reddish tint to it. I have to replace them, but now I am finding out that faux leather is the norm. I'm not spending $150 for leather boots!
