That sounds more like low blood sugar, rather than high blood sugar as in diabetes. Usually with diabetes, you don't get as hungry because your blood sugar is high so your brain doesn't think you need to eat. Does this happen after you have eaten a high sugar meal? What happens is that when you eat a high sugar (or high carbohydrate) meal, e.g., cereal and white toast for breakfast - is that due to all that sugar, your pancreas releases too much insulin and your blood sugar drops and when that happens, you feel the urge to eat and you eat quickly and too much. Do you feel shaky when this happens? or sweaty or nauseated? Shakiness is the classic sign of low blood sugar.
Diana gave you the classic symptoms of diabetes. And, since your younger brother has diabetes, and you are overweight, then you are at a much higher risk to develop diabetes, so you should have your blood sugar checked when you go to the doctor and at any health fair. Sometimes our pharmacy does free blood sugar checks. I'd keep an eye on it Janet.
