I am so saddened by what happened in Japan. I am usually an optimist, but looking at the global picture right now, with rebellion in the mid-east, all kinds of weather and nature related disasters, the fact that our government may close down this week, poverty in so many places, and a loss of values in general, I feel like it is the end of the world as we know it.
I wrote a story about this in my writers' workshop. If I can figure out a way to share it, I will.

I would love to read that, Judy. I feel the same way. I think, and hope, we just have to get through messes like this to get to something better. There is unrest in the middle east, but so far the dictators have been stepping down and the people are gaining freedom after years of oppression. I do not oppose nuclear power, but after the disaster in Japan I hope there will be better designs, better security measures, ways to make sure this doesn't happen again. I think everything that is happening now might make people think more about how we really are a global community and what happens on the other side of the world does effect everyone over the whole earth. I hope what comes out of all of this is something better.
