You might find that you really don't need another laptop at all, Janet.
I don't like the ipad because I don't get cell service locally, so it is basically useless out of the house. In the house, I have my pc, which I am used to. Even if I take the ipad with me, chances are I won't get internet service around here. I really don't need it either. I don't work, so have no real need for being in touch with anyone. I got very used to not being available, because we don't have many cell phone available areas.
Life in the boonies! Being retired, I like it. Coming from frenetic NYC, this simple, calm life suits me so well.
Here is a link for a great keyboard for your ipad, Janet. If my pc died, I would try this!
