My neighbors have a few chickens. "Had' a rooster that crowed very early in the mornings.. last few weeks haven't heard the crowing, so must have got rid of the rooster. Still have the chickens.
You are lucky to have a handyman. I could use one of those too!
Have a few projects going on this summer that I dread doing by myself.. but will get done..
