Judy, in a nutshell;
I have one less than pleasant neighbor who has been trying to claim a big slice of land on the border between his and our places. The people we bought from disagree with what he's telling us and the people HE bought from have said he's wrong too, so we decided that rather than let him continue to push and harrass us about it, we'd get a legal survey done, put up a fence, and put a stop to it once and for all. They're the only neighbor we really don't get along with, and this has become a situation where my dh can't hardly go out and mow without being verbally abused.

Dh is good friends with the rest of the neighbors... we all joke about them having their own little "gentlemens club" since they all hang out together in the one neighbohood custom car shop. So it truly isn't that dh is difficult to live by. These people are just bullies and figured dh could be pushed around. At this point they have no clue that we're making arrangements to do this. We've gone so far as to talk with the local law enforcement about it and they agreed to come out during the survey should any more threats be made.

Besides this, we learned that our little village was surveyed incorrectly back in the 1940s and the properties that were measured out since then have been done wrong based on that same error. Only now with GPS are they getting corrected. It's highly likely that once the GPS survey is done we will own even more of "their lawn" than we originally believed. They'd have been better off to leave well enough alone. But since they refused to, we will now get this done and kick them back to where they should be.

The guy is a felon, has been in jail for dealing and using meth, is a heavy drinker, has been jailed for battery, etc... so he's not someone we want to continue to argue with.
