UGGG Debbie, people can be SO thoughtless!
I bet she/he wanted to kick herself when she realized what she'd said! Getting a serious illness really does leave you open to all sorts of strange comments as people often don't know what to say, but feel they should acknowlege it.
I have an aunt and a friend who are survivors... 5+ yrs cancer free now and I fully expect you will be in their group. Your state of mind plays SUCH a big role and I sense in you a lot of love and strength.
I had a heart attack in my mid 40's, so have heard a few of those "WTF comments" too. I finally decided I felt bad for the people who made them... Most meant well, but were clueless and felt awful later.
